Thanks mate, but yeah these are just always a little different so some initial 'shit they won't fit' to some tweaking and now I'm pretty happy how they sit, need to fit a smaller battery to avoid hitting cable bracket on fcr's, haven't got the new throttle/ cable's yet but fingers crossed

I got the throttle and cables but they look all wrong to me , they have a 90 degree metal elbow where they attatch to the carburetor bracket where I would expect a straight fitting, also seem too long , anyone got any pics of their setups much appreciated

Feeling very stupid and lucky I just got home and turned fcrs around , the bent battery stays are still working in my favor and all seems good, I'll try the old standard size battery next and hopefully no more soft hammer work necessary on the tray/ stays

It all fits although tight , could gain a little more clearance on carbs but so far no damage to powder coating so reluctant to do so unless imperative, just trying to suss the best route for cables which I'm oiling now , not sure on filter system yet as I have no airbox and rather a less cluttered setup , stress levels have come down a little

Ah that is what was bugging me since I looked at that picture, could not figure out why they were "weird"
I fitted FCRs to my Special 750, but I decided to go with the FCR kit to fit the Airbox instead of the bells.
I like the bells but I want to have an air filter (dust and dirt is a killer) plus I want the carbs to breathe calm air otherwhise performance is heavily effected.
I might loose a couple of BHP on top but with the longer ducts it should be easier to ride.

I've been following this thread since you started it, and it certainly has been an interesting journey.
Mine was sold to a site member in 2014 or 15, but the attached picture was how it was setup when I bought it from Old Gold Motorcycles.
Mixture screws were a bit challenge to get too, but aside from that everything functioned as it should, was mainly a track bike, but would fit a set of Oiled Uni Filters for road use.
Just a different way of approaching it.

Yeah 851 , mine had the mikunis and oil/ unis on it originally, I have it all fitted but not sure on adaptors for uni filters , also maybe shorter fuel inlets to fit bigger filters, ? I now have the throttle and cables setup

Having another look I'm guessing it's not even possible to use shorter inlet stubs with the dual carbs

I have the cables running over the left side of the old battery ,through the top triangle left side of head stem then below ignition barrel to throttle, I will have to disconnect the throttle again to remove old battery and replace with new, yes I'm definitely muddling my way through it but determined to get a good result

The adapters should be available from the Keihin people in Adelaide, but they come at a fairly serious bit of money, bought mine in 2012 with the O Rings required and they were $155 or so then.
Then again mine were not joined.
