fuel pump Dellortos

Post by Timmy »

Hello,

i will mount Dellortos on my 906. My question, is it nessecary to use the original fuel pump? Can i use a Mikuni vacuum pump from a monster?

Greetings from Germany

Very simple question! Dellortos really DONT need ANY fuel pump! Those are designed to function WITHOUT any pump.... But somekind fuel valve in output of tank can be good. I add to my 750(with 40mm Dellortos) vacuum fuel valve. It takes vacuum from inlets and function quite well.....

Timmy,

I'm not running a fuel pump on my 750 with the Dellorto carbs and it runs just fine. Don't forget to put a fuel filter in the line.

Good Luck!

Timmy,

My 906 with 40mm dellortos would not run properly below half a tank without the fuel pump working and surely they put a fuel pump in for some reason. You will know at constant higher speeds if you want to test it for yourself. I must admit, I did have other problems at the time.

Jomo, seems, that U really have some other problems also, cause Dellortos DONT need any fuel pump, no matter, how much fuel in tank... I know many guys, who have changed Deoortos after Weber, but NOWBODY use fuel pump with Dellortos. Surely that can be used, but them MUST make return fuel lines with (needle)valves to tank.

Antti,

Don't know what you mean by "MUST make return fuel lines with (needle)valves to tank"
I have a return line to the tank.

Maybe I don't need a fuel pump. Maybe it was another problem at the same time. I will check if it will run without the pump and let you all know!

If U have fuel pump with Dellortos, then U need those return lines, but if U use only gravity feed, then those return lines are useless.... then Dellortos take just that amount of fuel from tank, what they need. SIMPLE!

If you need to use a pump, do you have a very restrictive fuel filter in the line or is it the wrong way round ?
