Fan does not stop

Post by hardo »

Hi everyone, the electric fan in my Paso 906 (1990) starts running too early (at approx. 75 instead of 92 Celsius) and does not stop anymore (it runs as long as the battery has power). Hence to avoid the battery running out, I have to remove the fuse and wait till the engine is cold (if not, the fan starts running again). Any idea what I should do? Thanks a lot for your help and keep on riding, hardo

I have a fully electronic controller for my fan because I run my Paso with two radiators so have had to ditch the standard bi-metallic switch. The circuit is a modified Velleman thermostat and I can vary the switch on temperature along with the switch on at - switch off at - setting (hysteresis).... But it took a bit of doing.

"JWilliam": I am very courious, HOW You did it, so can U explane more? I added to my 907IE 2 extra small fans with normal switch in right handlebar to put more fans on, if driving in hot conditions in cities with low speed. When speed is higher, then it automatically cools engine more, so then i switch off those "extra fans"... Btw, do You have 906, or 750 Paso?

Well I wouldn't be running a water cooled 750!, its a 906. When you say you are curious, do you mean the second radiator or just the electronic fan control?

Maybe older models, since uno, ritmo and later.
They use to put a short cable out of the switch in earlier models

Usually temp switches have 2 pins, as they aren't connected to the ground.
Otherwise, switches for temp indicator/red light can have just one pin
