Andrea, calmo :)
There are no original size tires and probably never will be again.
Search this and the 750 forum any you´ll find many tire topics.
Alternatives are 130/70-16 front and 150/80-16 or 180/60-16 rear, nothing else.

angelix, don`t. You don`t really want to tell someone who´s desperate to ride to buy a tire that`s 6 or 7 years old.
If someone wants to buy it as decoration it´s a different story :)

better than nothing.

The problem in Italy is that Without the right tire you cannot pass the Inspection and therefore you cannopt ride it as it would not be legal.

SO

With a "good" set you can pass the inspection, then you can put on a new set with different measurements, still not really legal, but at least if the police stops you unless they check what is written on the tires they will not take any action.

Yeah , the plan was to probly have used em all by now but nearly getting myself killed put a bit of a dampner on that :) , still cant bend my leg far enough to sit on the paso for more than a couple of mins  , which is why I have been reduced to riding the Guzzi ( at least I can buy tires for it :P ) and anyhow I dont buy into this bullshit about rubber "going off" overnight ( goes in the same box as the cam belt hysteria/paranoya ). When I removed the ally foil and plastic wrap off these tires I noted they still smelled of rubber and a re every bit as soft as the new shinkos fitted to the Guzzi ( you can see where I finnished off the rear ..... got in heaps of shit for that .... stunk the whole house out   ). And as for being a waste of money, I have turned down offers for 1 pair that exceeded what I paid for the whole lot, and I will probly wind up selling some of them to some guy that needs the "correct " tires for his early 851 , or sport , paso whatever, you probly wont see to many classic italian sports cars on yokohama's.
However , I would agree that , given the age of the design and probly materials too these tires wouldnt be my 1st choice for a lap record attempt, but I will use them for riding round on my paso till I have used all but 1 set or I get round to doing the 17 inch thing....... AND If I wanted to get all anal about it I might point out that fitting the wrong sized tyres ( trimmed sidewalls , lenghtened wheelbase and all that ) to a bike made to run fat little tires aint so smart either ..... ..... IMHO......... :P

Apparently, the view from down under brings a different perspective.
Hope you find the most appropriate use for those museum donuts.

get it. I thought about writing I hoped you got them cheap and use them fast.
Of course one generally can ride tires that are much older than that. Every tire will roll as long as it`s round.
The Dunlops on my car are now 5 years old. They drive fine but specially when it`s wet and I head into a narrow curve I can feel the car pushing over the front axle, hence oversteer. That`s not something I`d like to experience on two wheels.

As your Michelin are new and old stock they`re definetely better than used ones of the same age which aged more due to sunlight and other environmental effects - agree with that. Still I doubt I would want to push the Paso hard with these tires on. (maybe that is because I`m a nonbeliever  )
AND If I wanted to get all anal about it I might point out that fitting the wrong sized tyres ( trimmed sidewalls , lenghtened wheelbase and all that ) to a bike made to run fat little tires aint so smart either
Agree with that, too. (a good reason to go for 17" )

Btw is that the way of storing tires, one on top of the other and in the garage  (love that engine)

Hi Guys,

It will be some time before McTool is back on any bike. His leg broke yesterday (Sunday) so he is back in hospital. Seems that the rod/pin/bone in his femur broke and he will be there for a least a week while a solution is sorted.
Will advise any progress when I hear some.
Cheers,

Fraser.
