Moldy seat foam

Post by stigonpaso »

So I pulled the leather off the 906's seat today with the intention of recovering it and discovered mold. Is there a way of getting ride of the mold in the foam?

I hope to meet you soon! But for now, I'm repairing my 750 Paso after a recent fuel fire: a bit melty.

The mold is from the leather, not from the foam. Wash the foam, then treat the leather. Keep it dry is the key.

If you haven't put the seat cover back on the base yet, there is one trick you can do keep it happier for longer. Stop by a quilting store, fabric store, or upholstery store and pick up some batting. Its a non woven mat of poly that is commonly wrapped around foam before the fabric cover is applied. It will smooth out the contours, and let a bit of air under the leather to keep it from getting moldy.
