Timing shaft

Post by Duc906 »

Does anyone know if a later model timing lay shaft will fit the 904 engine? I need to replace one and I have been offered a cheap shaft from a 749/999 but I'm not sure if it will fit.

:) I guess if its cheap you could just buy the thing and if it doesn't fit you could just tell everyone its the start of a 999 project ( watch this space    )

I don`t know either but the one of the 906/907ie is #14710011A which is the same on:
851/888/748/916.

The later timing shaft is 14710141A and is used on:
S4 2002
S4R 2004 - 2006
S4RS 2006
ST2 2000 - 2003
ST4 2000 - 2003
ST4S 2002 - 2005
ST4S ABS 2003 - 2005
ST3 2004 - 2005
ST3S ABS 2007
748 1999 - 2002
748S 2000 - 2002
748R 2000 - 2002
996 1999 - 2001
996S 1999 - 2001
996SPS 1999 - 2000
996R 2001
998 2002
998S Bostrom-Bayliss 2002
998R 2002
998 Matrix 2004
998S FE 2004
749 2003 - 2006
749S 2003 - 2006
749R 2004 - 2005
999 2003 - 2006
999S 2003 - 2006
999S AMA 2007
999R 2004 - 2005

As the 748 is listed for both my guess is the first is the one from 94-98.

The models listed for the later shaft have a different crankcase with the 3-phase alternator. I would reckon it won't fit.
1994 907ie
2017 Supersport 939
2015 Scrambler Classic
1982 Pantah 500SL (now sold)

When trying to find what part might fit whatever , Sometimes it worth a look on flea bay to see if anyone has listed one with pix , a quick look might be all you need to know if it will fit or not :)
