Paso 906 ECU

Post by Bone »

I am still looking for a 1990 Paso 906 ECU. If anyone has any idea where to find a new, working used, or after-market alternative, I would greatly appreciate the information. The bike is a US model.

My wife is pushing me to "part out" the bike.

The 906 is not fuel injected and therefore does not have an ECU. Are you refering to the rectifier/regulator which fai regularly?

In the ducati workshop manual, it is called Electronic control unit (ECU)
In the parts manual it is called the "Electronic device" part number 382400221A. Italian description " Centralina acc. MARELLI".

Have a look at previous postings on the subject. I had no confidence in my old one after a few repairs and just spent the money on one from Silent Hektik in Germany. I appears that it will probably last forever, whereas the original Marelli had problems from 17,000 km. I assume you are in America, so your exchange rate won't hurt like our Aussie dollar did!

Otherwise, get an electronics person to re-solder everything if price is an issue. Like I say check the previous posts.

You shuold update your profile of where you live in case someone nearby can help you. It would be great to have someone nearby to swap parts with when testing.
Brake late & brake hard,

I was having problem with my ignition unit .it would drop the rear cylinder at the most inconvienient of times[usually when passing]I evenually sent it to a tv repair dude who resoldered the curcuit board.Have had no problem for last 18 months.starts much better also .Ducati electrics suffer from bad conections especially solder joints which go porous[dry solder joint] but here is a hint DONT get drunk and rip unit apart in disgust apparently you do more damage than good???

Where are you?
If you are in EU, you could try also at FIAT/Alfa Romeo dealer (or car-wrecker) since the same Marelli ECU and also other electric parts (RPM sensor) had been used also on the FIAT group cars.

What Fiat modells they use that Marelli unit??? I have heard, that "some" Fiat Croma modell had that P7(907) ECU, but that Marelli??? Anyway i dont know so much about those Fiat cars... I only know, that PLENTY of elecrical problems in every modell... :funny: :funny: :funny:

Btw, Russian Lada 1200("nappisilmä", as we say in Finland) is copy of Fiat 124, but seems, that Lada 1200 was better, than earlier Fiat version... :funny: :funny: :funny:

The Marelli Digiplex had been used on the Fiat Tipo, Regata, Uno, Ritmo, Tempra, Croma, Cinquecento, Lancia Thema, Y10, Ferrari 308.....

If you want to know something more you can see the link below.
http://web.tiscali.it/Mecheroni/Accensi ... nsione.htm
If someone need it I could translate the contents.

Besides, the Weber (that is a Marelli's company) carbs had been used also on the FIAT group cars and, as I told you, many electric components were shared beetween FIAT and Ducati.

I have had only FIAT group cars :D .

The Lada were FIAT models built under license, as the earlier SEAT, the Polsky....

I don't know them very well, but if you say they were better than the FIAT I think it's true, even because they went later then same FIAT models.
