906 piston orientation

Post by bigdjag »

Could someone please tell me the correct orientation for the pistons as I removed mine and forgot to mark which side points forward doh!
I did mark them horizontal and vertical though
Thanks

don't sweat it, I'm pretty sure they are symmetrical or at least close enough that there is no noticeable difference. I just put new pistons in mine and the new ones are symmetrical though I didn't measure the old ones. I'll put some calipers on the originals when i get home tonight.

clean the piston crown and see if there are markings. If there is an A and S near the valve pockets A is the intake, S the exhaust side.
The intake valve is bigger than the exhaust valve hence the different size pockets.

Yup, Just as I walked away from the computer it dawned on me that the pistons are clearenced for the valves. A lesson in thinking before I speak.
