907IE Tech FAQ

Post by jcslocum »

I think it's time that we built a 907IE specific technical FAQ-thread the way we have been building one in the 750 forum. I'm by no means a 907 expert but can troll thru the threads to find what I think might be important but it's the users of the forum that really know what's unique and needed to populate this FAQ. Please add the past threads that you think will be most useful for others.

DO NOT ADD NEW QUESTIONS IN THIS THREAD

Alternative Thermostat

Original Ducati thermostat is no longer available

Best match is a thermostat from an Aprillia 1000

Engine runs slightly cooler (steady 80 centigrade at speed)

To install, just need 90 degree silicone hose bend and about 100mm length of 19mm (3/4") connecting tube.

I have carried out this mod on my bike with no problems

Clutch Slave Cylinder Upgrade

This is the upgraded Ducati clutch slave cylinder.

It takes the uprated seals from a 916/996

You also need the adapter bolt (which is sold seperately, not as part of the kit).

Here is a picture of the final result

Image

Aftermarket clutch slave cylinders (which will also reduce clutch pull effort) can be fitted. These are the ones that will fit a 916/ST2/851/888 etc.
As later Ducatis have a longer clutch push rod these aftermarket units are supplied with a short adapter piston which is required for installation on a 907IE.

Keys

Got some ignition keys cut locally for my 750. Keys look the same for 907.

Locksmith used a Fiat blank. Apparently there is a left handed and right handed blank so pick the right one.

Key blank is Silca marked GT GR

2 keys cut for £8.50 Sterling

comment by persempre907: Pay attention: the keys for the earlier 907 don't fit the last and viceversa.
