Radiator Coolant tank mod

Post by nickta »

Hi.

Had a look at the Documents for the 906 and 907, and found the modification to the Coolant tank. Ordered the filler neck from the Honda dealer, but the Radiator cap comes in 2 different pressures. Choices are 1.1 Bar, or 0.9 Bar. They have an after market cap in 0.9, but not the 1.1. Any thoughts on which size would be best? Haven't had a look in the 907 Maintenance manual (not home), but guess either would be OK?

The other question with this mod, it says "cut a slit from the I.D. to just beyond the cap’s inner relief valve". I gather this bit gets the inside of the tank to Atmospheric pressure, but is it obvious how far the slit goes? Anyone done this mod and have a picture?

Cheers.

Nick.

Nick,

I obviously wouldn`t know as I have a P750 but in case you`d use Evans waterless coolant (anyone tried ?) there would be no pressure in the system at all.

The cap on my 906 has been knackeded sinse I have had it and it runs zero pressure and has always worked fine . The cap is only there to keep the coolant in when I get airborne :D

I mucked around like that for my first mod. Just redid it since I wiped it off in a crash. This time I just snipped all that pressure spring control part out of the cap with tin snips and drilled a very small hole in the cap, to let a small amount of air flow. Works fine.
