907i.e. tach problems

Post by docbob »

My tach suddenly stopped working. Occasionally dribbles up to 1000 rpm at best. Does anyone know any simple diagnostics for one of these? if it's kaput, I'm looking for one--will an earlier 906 or 750 Paso tach work?

Thanks,

Bob

Start with the cable. Like the speedo, its a spinning cable inside housing. If they get a bit dry, they will seize up and twist off. There is a ferrel on the top side to help support the inner cable and be a bearing. Like the speedo cable and speedo drive, they are often neglected an need some lube from time to time.

I just put one on my bike and the inner cable was really dry. I used some motor oil on it.

Cheers, Phil
