Folks I am looking to get some replacement belts and have been searching the internet auction and spares supply sites and also my local dealer.

Has any one purchased one of these Dayco belts that seem to be abundant in Italy, Holland and Germany as they are incredibly cheap compared to dealer prices?

If no issues known I may get might myself a few pairs for future use.

I was thinking the same thing about the next service, and where to get a set of belts. I rang my normal source of parts (Ducati Dealer) and even with a discount a OEM belt (singular) was AU$88, which works out around £44, 55 euro and US$118. Nearly fell over when I got the price. There was a cheaper option, which was the superseded belt at half that price, but only if they had stock at the time.

I read dayco are inferior on Ducati forum. I bought a pair thinking they were oe, the eBay ad had Ducati logo, the tooth is different. I returned them commenting his listing was misleading but he continued his ad.

The stein dinse look good. About £40 posted if paid by bank transfer. Problem with parts from USA is import duty and post are killer.
Ducati really pissed me off changing the part number and doubling the price for 900 belts.

Whilst the cost of belts is high the cost of a damaged engine is much more. I never understand why anybody would consider using non standard belts.

I bought a Cagiva Elefant 750 with an engine that was damaged because somebody had taken a risk on belts and when you look at the degree of damage (completely wrecked cylinder and head) it makes you realise the risk is not worth it.

In the last month I have replaced the belts on my 998, Monster, 907ie, 900 SuperSport, 851 and Indiana (getting ready for spring) and they were all factory original belts - not cheap but I do not want any of the engines damaged so a sound investment in my book.

While I do agree with you Ducati are doing us no favours by simply changing the part no. and doubling the price. No wonder folk are tempted to use pattern belts.

There is going to be a UK distributor of the exactfit belts in the near future according to ducatiforum.uk.

From what I've read these belts are as good as oem and a fair bit cheaper. He's also offering 15% discount to ducatiforum members as introductory offer.
