My 1991 Ducati 907ie

Post by Sycklemotor »

Posting this to hopefully help the 907 community. There is very little info to work with on the web.I will share what I learn and hopefully my experience in building my bike will help others here.
I am a Licensed Ducati mechanic ( I do not do it for a living ( I have) but I have attended training and am l current.)
I purchased a 1991 907ie from a friend moving to Florida and have been doing maintenance and updating it ever since. Some of the things non mechanics do to bikes never ceases to amaze me. I'm very detail oriented and very picky about maintenance and modifications.
It is black and in great condition with 23,000 miles.
I have included a few photos of what I am currently doing but will be posting more photos as I go along.

Here are some things I have done:
Polished F1 pipes
Ferraci Stage 1 chip
Updated rear cush drive with new inserts,TPO Parts Titanium pins ( new style) and 12 point ti nuts, with SuperSprox 41 tooth sprocket.
White powder coated wheels with new wheel bearings
Titanium rear caliper bolts,washers
90 degree Black machined valve stems
Titanium axle nuts
Yoyodyne clutch slave cylinder
New front fairing mount
CNC Machined chain adjuster plates-Black
Rebuilt forks with new bushings, seals and wipers
New fuel filter and all new injection hoses.
Replaced hoses ( what I could get)and all clamps
New Radiator cooling fan assembly
Straightened Radiator fins ( slow and painful!) and repainted radiator
Replaced about 200 fasteners with stainless steel.
Replaced headlight with 1985 FZ-750 unit. Direct bolt in.
Replace speedometer with new OEM, new rubber mounts
Replaced tach cable
Fabricated new license plate holder with Titanium bolts and Carbon fiber license plate frame.
New Michelins
Powder coated triple trees and installed new stem bearings
Full engine maintenance-valves,oil, etc.Planning on using MBP collets on next valve service.
I am now trying to get the front brakes updated and have purchased P34 Goldline calipers as well as Brake Tech Axis Iron rotors ( 320mm) and Titanium mounting bolts, washers. But I need a 92-93 set of lower fork legs to get it all working.I will be using the Goldline calipers with EBC Pro-Lite rotors until I get the forks situation straightened out. Then I will switch to the Axis Iron rotors and different pads.
I have some items from the bike in the For Sale/Trade forums.

Here are a few photos before all work started. This is what it looked like when I got it.
Basically in good shape it just needed TLC and maintenance and updating.
Also upgraded instrument cluster to all LED bulbs.
Yoyodyne clutch slave cylinder
All SS braided brake and clutch lines.
New front fairing mount-freshly powder coated. ( Old one was tweaked- probably from a previous tip over. )

Hey Russ, it all looks very nice ! GOOD JOB !
I got some questions.

1. - Stage One Chip - What are the costs of it ? How many HP does it bring ? Where to buy ? Easy to install ?
2. - The sprocket with the golden inlet ? Where to buy ? What is the price ?
3. - I need new tires. Why do you bought the Michelin "GT" ? Why don`t you take the "standart" ? Are you satisfied with them ?

Thank you for your time and answears.
