the " premise" behind spaying a coating of white lithium grease onto you fiction disc is to "cure" the dryed material
I suppose if you wipe the disc clean afterwards not much harm would be done key on "not much"
sounds like a crackpot idea to me but many claim success
maybe someone should try soaking them in water and then let them air dry
or just buy the suzie discs and ride on into the sunset

the only success one can have is maybe a little less noise or dust which comes at the price of decreased friction. Makes no sense.sounds like a crackpot idea to me but many claim success
The funny thing is that the discussion would for sure be completely different if it was about applying any kind of grease on brake pads It would be the same thing and I`m sure noone would even consider doing it (hopefully ).

So by the same logic then, you think that running a clutch in a bath of oil like most motorcycle manufacturers do, makes no sense ?paso750 wrote:the only success one can have is maybe a little less noise or dust which comes at the price of decreased friction. It makes one wonder why they do it really doesn't it, when it makes no sense . . .

I've never said anything like that. A dry clutch and a wet clutch are two completely different things. Spilling a quart of oil over a dry clutch also doesn`t make it a wet clutch. If you`re not sure do try.
The cars I know have a dry clutch btw. (except some with DCT)

You implied it by saying putting lithium grease on the clutch frictions makes no sense.paso750 wrote:I've never said anything like that.
You're the one that needs to try it - and then you will see whether reality matches up with the unexperienced statements you make about it.paso750 wrote:If you`re not sure do try.

Okay finally got to strip the clutch out today lots of rusty residue found and generally scruffy and mucky looking so after an hour or so tinkering and cleaning everything is back in place. Will see how things perform next week on my 2nd test ride after i have finished fitting the new belts.
So no new clutch yet and thank you all for your suggestions.
