907/906 rear shock

Post by Doc »

anyone have any DIRECT experience with getting a rear shock rebuilt?
I have wanted a 907ie ever since I saw one new back in 92-93.
I looked about 6 yrs ago but just didn't have the funds. I recently started looking again and was suprised that they are still selling for the same $$$.

Anyway, i have located a 907 at a good price but it has a blown rear shock.

I looked at the thread on the 906 side about shocks, but wanted to hear from anyone with personal exp. The shocks (not the linkage and swingarm) are the same for the 906/907, correct?
PartsFish says ~$1200 for a replacement.
The $70 rebuild from the place in NY looks like a heck of a bargain.
Please weigh in with your comments/exp.
I don't want to have to pay almost as much for a shock as I would pay for the bike....
Thanks!

Go for the rebuild. Why waste money on a new one?

Have lots of rear shocks rebuilt in my time. You won't notice the difference if they know what they're doing.
