Hi Higgy.

I have a spare Oz version EPROM which I might be able to get a dump from. I will have to check to see if we still have a reader at work? Will get back to you.

Cheers.

Nick.

:banghead: Set up a serial port sniffer today to see if I could figure out what is going on

The port sniffer tracks the output/input OK when doing the cable test but nothing else, stumped :banghead:

An update,

after conferring with a lot of folks on a lot of different forums this is what I have found

Ducati for some reason did not enable serial communication on their 68000 chip in the P7 ecu. Only flash codes are enabled. FIM and FBF have different setups but enabled some features of the chip to make it difficult to unravel. On later models of the P8 it is enabled so GuzziDiag should work

Guzzi on the other hand has serial comms and flash codes turned on with their version of the 68000 in the P7 so GuzziDiag should work on a Guzzi.

It should be possible to change this but it is going to take some time to figure out as I am no expert on chip programming.

In the mean time anyone with bin and .xdf files from a P7 equipped 907 if you could send them along it would be very helpful. Even modified bins (P8)will help in the effort to sort it out since the easiest way to learn programming is to see what others have done :truck:
I have a Wellim Eprom Progammer here somewhere and looks like its time to learn how to use it

In for a penny, in for a pound  After much research I have decided if I'm going to do this why stop at just making the program work. The plan is to update the chip with an eeprom so the additional step of acquiring a UV eraser and an eprom programmer can be skipped all together

Then I decided why stop there. Seems the newer(available but old and out of production) eeprom has twice the memory of the normal eprom so why not make a "big brain" out of the P7 and allow individual cylinder mapping as well as more modern ignition timing.

To that end I'm going to need a little help from those of you have a P8 or one of the MyEcu's in your 907

All I need is a copy of your bin file and if possible the model number of the E(E)prom inside

It will quicken the whole process if I can see the differences in the files

Thanks Gert
I didn't think to look at the other forum :fart:

Do you know if the main processor is an MC6803 ?

another update

the eeprom which is pin compatible is long out of production but a few suppliers still have them in stock

If anyone following this thread has an interest PM me and I will tell you how to get one while they are still cheap as in 2 for 10USD plus postage to where ever. I may find a substitute down the line but remember this is now 30 + year old technology so there just ain't a lot of guys/gals left around that even care to understand so it may get way complicated and I for one can't see me living to a ripe old age so I suggest you act now if interested or figure this all out for yourself 10 years down the line

BTW it is possible to upgrade the ECU main chip but I have no plans to go there for those of you reading this thread if it even exist 10 years down the line  :smoke: :drunk: R.I.P.

FYI
I have found the MiniPro TL866 Universal Programmer to work very well. Much better than the Willem Eprom Programmer and relatively cheap at under 50usd on fleabay
