progress report

Have settled on the Arduino Mega 2560 for the ECU


Simple, $40 USD Small footprint in a box it measures 62mm wide x 112mm depth x 35mm (39mm) height


prototyping has started and BTW it looks fully compatible with the MyECU products :thumbup: :beer: :beer:

Interesting project.

You could buy a P8 (90`s Laverda is cheap), buy chips from China/ebay, register a Tunerpro,
download xdf here http://www.speedzilla.com/forums/ducati ... -free.html
use your chipburner and go.

have had no luck with Chinese chips, way too many counterfeits. I believe I posted earlier on where to get the correct chip or how to upgrade to a more current and readily available chip

Cheapest P8 I have run across is still 300. The Aduino is 40 and has much more capabilities

Just a progress report up and running now comes the wiring up of sensors

Arduiino mega 2560/Speeduino/Tuner Studio


Plan to add bluetooth in the near future

What you will get is flexible and configurable fuel and ignition management that will work for the majority of every day type setups. Currently supported features include:

16x16 3D fuel and ignition maps, with base of either TPS (Alpha-N) or MAP (Speed Density)
Supports up to 8 cylinders fuel and ignition with 4 channels of fuel and 4 channels of ignition outputs
1, 2 (Even fire only), 3, 4, 6 (even fire only) and 8 cylinders
After Start Enrichment
Rev limiting (Spark based, hard and soft)
Cranking specific enrichment, dwell timing and advance
General logging through TunerStudio
High speed tooth logging
TPS calibration through TunerStudio
Sensor calibration through TunerStudio (Coolant, IAT and O2)
Warm Up Enrichment (WUE)
TPS based acceleration enrichment
Tacho output
Fuel pump activation/deactivation (With priming)
Over dwell and over duty protection
Battery voltage compensation for dwell and injectors
Modular wheel decoder support. Included decoders:
Missing tooth (Eg 36-1, 60-2 etc)
Basic distributor (Fuel only)

Open loop idle control (PWM and Stepper)
Open loop boost control
Open loop VVT control
Semi-Sequential or Simultaneous injection
Deceleration fuel cut off (DFCO)
O2 based autotune (Registered version of TunerStudio required)


Did I mention GPS will also be included :cool:

the next step is the most complicated but not difficult. All the input/output signals from the Ducati sensors/drivers need to be conditioned to communicate with the Arduino board. This board will act as a place to hook up the Ducati wiring for both inputs and output signals. It is akin to adding relays to the wiring to save the ignition switch and solve the low voltage coil and headlight issues many of you have dealt with but with smaller components on a breadboard.


Also will have to decide weather to utilize the known troublesome 907 map sensor or to install a more modern one on the board for additional 20 bucks or so

All the component parts are in, just waiting on the breadboard. Once built progress should move along quickly :thumbup:


looking in to which wide band O2 sensor is best in the price vs quality category


suggestions are always welcome :beer: Of course this assumes anyone cares :phone:

Once this project is finished I will be revisiting the Weber DNCF issues and maybe a replacement for the ignition controller on the 906 and 750 :idea:

What is that?

Skip 907 MAP, use a sensor f e mounted under dash, I did.

Bosch wideband O2 is what most use.

What is that?

just means it is setup to use many different types of crank and cam sensors. Modular just means you pick the module based on need

yea, me too but will be on the board nice and safe

Bosch wideband O2 is what most use

yup, but there are many others for a lot less money and two Bosch Sensors will be more than the cost of the entire project so far :lol:

I run a 14point7 unit with my MyECU... but i notice that they also sell a controller (for a bosch 5 wire sensor) suitable for circuit board integration for $40 here: http://www.14point7.com/products/slc-oem
