907 IE tank internal plumbing

Post by blazing928 »

Hi

refurbing another fuel tank so I can ride again....(been a few years due to MTB shoulder surgery & pin hole in original tank]
Ive done the POR15 tank sealer, repainted the outside and I am installing in a new fuel pump, Bosch 580 464 998, degasser, filter, new SAE30R10 hoses etc.

Question;
does the return fuel line, from the one way return valve to internal degasser, have hose clamps or is it just a push on fit?

I have no spare clamps in the container I used to store the old parts when I removed everything ...a couple of years ago.

thanks Nigel

the only un-clamped hose I had in my tank was the one going to the filter cover below the pump inlet. Every other hose is was found to be clamped. I know this because I have this morning just stripped out and inspected my tank and internals after changing the belts and getting no fuel to the carbs..... to cut a long story short I should of put the wires on correctly outside that way the pump would not of been sucking instead of blowing dohhhh !!!! :banghead: Be warned be very warned :fart:

Coincidence no doubt but yesterday I took apart the fuel tank internals trying to sort out my lean running issues. The hose ends to the degasser and fuel pump screen had no clamps on my bike. By the way, what is the function of the degasser? I might get one for my dog if I think it might help.

thanks guys for the replies. i was hoping the low pressure lines didn't need clamps....I'm pretty sure mine didn't as I don't have clamps left over, so skinned knuckles here I come!

The gauze filter to degasser didn't have clamps either, but this is only about a 6mm line, not the main 8mm lines.

My guess is the degasser takes out any frothing from the return line and yes, my son needs one too!

Ha ha ha :fart: ,with only 1/2 my innards left farting is a skill I have perfected( :fart: :fart: ) pretty much at will . Anywhere is OK , just need to get the timing right , and its best if you can set it up so an innocent party gets the blame, Mum wont stand within 20 feet of me in public ( she was a slow learner ) , Farts only smell bad so deaf people can enjoy them too :lol:

the degasser helps to prevent bubbles in the fuel as it leaves the pump

So Higgy, it takes the air near the fuel pump pick-up inlet and sends them up the hose to the canister? Is that so the fuel pump sends only fuel not air through the filter and to the injectors, thereby maintaining the three bar pressure in the line? Perhaps something along those lines? I had not considered this before. Probably won't work on the dog though darn it!

except the degasser is on the return line.

That's why I asked about clamping the internal tank fuel line from the non return valve to degasser, as it will be low pressure.
