rough running when holding throttle steady below 3500rpm
Hi all finally got the bike running this year after 12 years lay up worked on it all last year tank hoses. Injectors. Plugs. It runs very well when cold but once warm it is very stuttery when held at low throttle between 1000 to 4000rpm it also stalls regularly when dropping off the throttle. The bike pulls really hard when banging the throttle wide open and at speed seems to go really well but it's a horrible ride at low speed around town constantly feathering the throttle on and off any help please te Alistair

after 12 years I would start by replacing the in tank filter, may be all you need to do but check all the intank fuel lines while you are in there Plug wires could be an issue as well
check the belts as well, not causing your current issue but may prevent future tragedy

Cheers for the advice I did the tank filter and hoses. But funny you say plug leads only a guy at my local gym said it sounds like a plug gone down. So maybe best to look at leads and coils first .

Give the throttle body and various external appendages a good soaking with WD40. Check your throttle cable is also nice and free in it's sleeve and runs clean on the metal rockers and adjusted correctly. I would also check the plug leads as I assume you changed the plugs after such a long lay up as they can corrode or collect crud in the gaps?
Also give all the earth points a good clean.
One other thing is to remove and spray WD40 or DP60 (cheap and cheerful from your local pound store) on the electric connections to your ignition system as again crud can build up on the circuit contacts.
Nice to see another back on the road that should make at least 10 on the road in the UK.

what about the cigarette filter trick? In the tube off the airbox to stop the pulsing?

Throttle position sensor(tps) could need setting up. Done mine by ear before now and it was spot on when checked digitally.

Re: rough running when holding throttle steady below 3500rpm
Just an up date. I have started pulling the bike apart and found what appeared to be an oil leak. the oil was black and very light. on closer inspection it looks like it has come from the exhaust manifold on the rear cylinder I removed both plugs and the rear cylinder plug looked a bit oily compared to the front cylinder one. so I hope the oil leak is from unburnt fuel from the manifold joint, I haven't done a compression test yet as my test kit is at my work so cant be sure the pressure is ok. like I said earlier the bike appears to run better when cold so maybe a coil problem. but this gives me a place to start. thanks guys for all the help with advice its much appreciated Re Alistair

sounds like a guide issue or clearance with the valve
