Had the tank off and it was laid down leaning forward. Found fuel leaking out through the central round support.
Is there a breather there in the central front support or is my tank leaking?
Cheers J
tank breather
Re: tank breather
Hi J,
Not a tank breather, I'm afraid... A known issue on the earlier tanks, where they start to leak around the front centre support (the small tack welds that fix the round support to the tank)...
Whereabouts in the Netherlands are you?
Cheers,
Bas

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Modify it!
Re: tank breather
Hi Bas,
I am in Middelburg, you?
The leak is small, doesnt leak while driving I think. I see evidence of a fix with some kit. I will have to look at it again to see what I can do with devcon or something. Any suggestions?
Cheers J

Re: tank breather
Yes, thats indeed an option I had not thought about, I was thinking of a fix from the outside.
I have heard mixed report about these sealers. Is there experience on the forom with this kind of fix?

Re: tank breather
I am faced with a leak from the seam of my 750SS, and after quite a bit of reading, I felt sufficiently reassured to part with my own money (!) to purchase similar items from ebay, but bought the quart size in order to treat a few tanks at once. I haven't done it yet but many reports on this fix are very positive.
I might use JB Weld first just to make sure...

Solvent resistant - including petrol/gasoline - and strong as hell; I'll be using JB Weld.
