Lowered the footrests

I've been looking for some time for a solution to lower the footrests a little on the 907 to make it a bit more easy on the knees on longer runs. As I get older I'm finding it ok for 50 miles or so but for longer distances my knees start to ache.
I looked at these footrest lowering kits on eBay. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/381292845769? ... EBIDX%3AIT
They were advertised for 900SS all years but what came hadn't a hope in hell of fitting. I found that the i.e. models are narrower with a maller pivot pin, so despite the claim, they didn't fit all years.
There was a similar set up from a US seller which would have done the job but at around 100$ US including carriage seemed a bit expensive to me.
I borrowed a set of footrest hangers off a carbed 900SS to see if they could be adapted but found that, although they were longer, the footrests would still be about the same height but about 50mm further back. Not really what I wanted.
So I ended up making a couple of plates from 12mm alloy to drop the pegs by about 36mm. I would have used 10mm alloy but I didn't have enough to make 2 plates.
This is what I ended up with.
The 12mm plate might not have been a bad thing actually, as it moves the gear linkage out far enough to clear the silencer but I will have to alter the stop on the side stand as it touches the downward part of the gear lever when a downshift is carried out.
There is a similar mirror image plate on the other side to support the RH footrest and brake master cylinder.
