Ohlins rear shock absorber

Post by Thebenelliman »

Does the Ohlins shock absorber fitted to early Paso's fit a 907 ie ? And does it improve the handling?.
Mine has a new ish Hagon unit currently fitted! Not sure if they are good or not?

I had a ohlins shock made by our local agent cost $1500 NZ, worth every penny !Now I am contemplating
finding an ohlins front fork set or having the m1r customized with ohlins internals for around $700 NZ by
the same people here in NZ . The rear also has remote spring preload adjustment (well worth it)makes
preload changes quick and easy.

The Marzocchi rear shock from my 750 has a remote spring preload adjuster too, so I assumed that they all had one.

while Thebenelliman is talking about the Öhlins shock mounted on the very early P750 models oceanhunter has installed an aftermarket Öhlins.
All P750 shocks had the spring adjuster. Aftermarket Öhlins do also exist w/o.

It fits 907.
Improves handling, do get a proper spring. I got a 52 Nm, + 90 kg driver.

Sorry of course, we're on the 907 section. I wasn't thinking.
I realise now that the 907 has the 851 style rear suspension rather than the arrangement on the 750 and 906.

Silly me - apologies all round : )

I put a Paso750 ohlins on my 907 10 years and had contact with tyre on mudguard under ecu with passenger. I had shock rebuilt by Harris ohlins specialist with heavier spring and still had problems.

Penske & Öhlins made for 750 same length c/c as original 907 Marzocchi, FHE.
Original spring 750 Öhlins according to Öhlins Sweden 42 NM, way too soft f most.
W stiffer spring, ride vastly improved, it just works. No problems hitting anything,
haven`t ridden much 2 up though. I assume adjusting preload & setting sag with passenger would
take care of that.
