As seen on http://www.powersportspro.com

There are following origin Ducati Part Numbers:

Fuel Tank 907 Black: DU58610051BB
Fuel Tank 907 Red: DU58610051BA
Fuel Tank 906 Red: DU5810031AA
Fuel Tank 906 Blue: DU5810031AB

So it seems that the Tanks are not interchangeable by Numbers.
Color is matched with the letters at End.

in fact 750/906 tanks are the same (only the Ducati writing and the colour of the sticker-line are differenr) the 907ie in fact has different internals. If I recall correctly it also has the fuel pump in the tank. Some 907ie owner may correct me.

Hi again,

it seems the color matching code is ordered vice versa at 906/907ie. Red is even red that times, i thing. No shades.
In fact the Numbers aren't the same, end Number 31 at 906, 51 at 907.

As said, these are informations by powersports pro. I don't know how origin they are.
You get the Ducati Part Numbers there when you put your Mouse-Pointer over the "Add to cart" Button. Then look at the statusline (bottomline) of your browser. The number there at nearly the end of the row, after the DU, displays the Ducati Part Number.

My 906 has an external fuel pump, the tank downside is configuered as followed: fuel cock at left hand side, internal sensor for fuel level nearly in the middle, rear right hand side 2 small tubes: one for overflow and one fuelpump return.

Ask the owner of the used Tank for pictures of all sides of the Tank and compare them with your mounted tank.
Mountings will be equal.

Greets,
