New 907

Post by a330us »

Hi guys, been awhile and just picked up a 91 907 with just 1900 miles and it is beautiful. Biggest issue was it had some acid corrosion on swing arm which I’ve gotten off and luckily didn’t have any real pitting underneath. Of course it’s shiny now so how do I get it looking like the original finish? Was the original finish andonize or some kind of clear coat?
Of course the belts have never been changed! I’ve got some other low mile Paso’s in the same mode with original belts and too afraid to even start up! Guess I’m going to have to figure it out again with the belt changing. Thanks Arch

chirp chirp :banghead: :drunk:

Archie I believe the answer is "both"

Info is here somewhere, there are many threads on the subject of swing arm corrosion

try using the search for battery acid on swingarm, should find the answer in one of the listed threads. Dont remember if it ever made it to the FAQ
Ducati, making mechanics out of riders since 1946
There's no problem so bad that a little fixing can't make it worse! : )
If it ain't broke keep fixin it till it is

No, got it from second owner who bought it from original owner in 2005 with 700 miles on it and just didn"t ride it very much due to personal family reasons.I've got another one with 3K on it that the original owner bought just to haul around on a carrier on the back of his big RV!Bet he was the only one at a campground with one !! Archie,
Just call me with any questions. I need to get by your house for a visit.
Went to the Italian weekend at 2 wheels in Suches Ga. at the end of June. I took the Paso but only got to ride 7 miles. My cousin and I arrived Thursday night and on the way to Dahlonega for dinner he crashed riding his ST3. He broke his collar bone and 6 ribs. He went to hospital in Gainesville. I went back to 2 wheels and got the trailer and retrieve his bike. Next day loaded up and picked him up at Gainesville hospital and took him home.
Oh well, next year.

Just sold mine with 1900 miles on it. (The 916S and the 851 went too). My head hurts from where I've been banging it against the wall ever since.
