Like a Phoenix from the ashes..

Post by ccmman »

Dear Fellow 907iers
I am new to the forum. It is reassuring, informative and fun to have an owners forum, in all a great resource for us.
I bought my 907 in June 1996 when it was only 3 years old. I was 36! I'm now 58 as I'm sure you have worked out by now!
The
I ran a badger over near here and got spat into a hedge and my lovely Duc got bunged in a shed on my farm. I dragged it out 2 weeks ago and I was riding it 3 days later. Here we are, and more to come!

Fantastic, welcome to the forum. Great to see another put back into active service. Check out the 907ie register thread you have a moment so you can add your bike details if you feel the urge.

All the best

Have had a great summer here in the UK, and some brilliant rides on the 907!

When I first posted here, I intended to roll back the years to when I first bought the bike, and dig out some of my stuff from my file.....

The best bit was following the first service after purchase, from the first owner. The is a local Ducati independant firm near to me, Baines Bros, who are still there at Silverstone. They gave the 907 a proper birthday, and when I was chatting to Geoff, he said why dont you fit our chip and Bos pipes, it makes a real difference?

Well, Im a cynical bastard, and never believe anything Im told, but Baines Bros are proper guys, so I was interested. There was a local bike dyno near me, run by Ray Stringer, a well-known racer and TT winner, again, proper bloke. So I took the 907 to Ray , ran it up on his dyno, got Geoff to fit his parts, then re-dynoed the bike.

The results speak for themselves.

and I have to say, it felt gruntier and sounded superb. Those boys knew what they were doing!

Interestingly, they had considerable success in the Battle of the Twins series with their own race Ducati. I dont remember the specific rules etc, but Geoff expained that the 907 engine was a great starting point for them because of the water cooling and fuel injection.

Apart from the extra BHP, the telling difference is the huge fat increase in torque between 3250ish and 5000. Just the sort of area yr working in on the road. Yum yum!

I will take a photo of the pipes Turin.

Hi Gert, yes I did as the Baines told me, cutting out a large part of the air-box lid.

It makes for much aural pleasure, as do the pipes!
