'92 907ie with stock Ducati mufflers. When I shine the flashlight inside the muffler I see some silver packing like aluminum wool or crumpled aluminum foil about 12-14" down the tube. Can this be removed to give better flow? Am installing Fast by Ferracci Stage 1 chip in ECU with KN air filter and would like to get better flow out the rear end of the muffler (exiting pipe is so small it almost looks like something off a 2 stroke!). Any ideas on removing this stuff or what can be done to stock muffle for improvement without major mods.

Done that.
Removed the part in middle for straight through passage.
Didn't do much, for neither sound nor performance.
Not worth the trouble IMHO.
