Not exactly sure whats going on with your bike, but after you sort it out go to this site and buy the upgrade. The kit these guys supply is worth every penny.
I have had my engine balanced, blueprinted, heads ported, etc. and the compression is up and well it's a stout engine. Was hard to get it started and the battery was always low. Put this upgrade on the bike and it kicks off immediately, no dragging, no whining, hit the starter button and it's running. Great product that works.

Oh, clean up your grounds, check the wires you where talking about and see if they are getting hot and deforming.

Is this a new issue or did you have it already before the regulator was replaced? Or in short, is the regulator wired correctly?

Re: Charging problem...no kidding....
No problem before....I did the wiring upgrade last weekend, and installed a digital guage on the dash. Charging 13.6 @ 25k drops to 12.8 at idle...new battery, 12.8 volts engine off.....runs good...paso750 wrote:Is this a new issue or did you have it already before the regulator was replaced? I guess I'd like to see 13+ at idle but I think I can live with this...

Even 13.6V is a bit low. You should really be seeing 14.0V + at over 2,000 rpm.
I have a Shindengen FA020H and get around 13.6V at idle and a steady 14.2V above 2,000 rpm.

Re: Charging problem...no kidding....
Sorry, I probably have you the wrong Shindengen number. I was writing from memory, I'm in Turkey right now. It is a MOSFET regulator with no provision for a charge light.
