Require a new throttle cable. UK Based. 907ie

Post by englishstiv »

Okay so replaced my throttle cable with a new Venhill do it yourself kit and a lovely job it was until I fitted it into the handlebar control where the slightly thicker inner cable does not want to fit in the groove.

Been searching through out the UK sites for a replacement with no luck and cant phone around thanks to Covid 19 lockdown.

Have managed to get an email reply from a throttle maker but they want the knackered original plus £40.00 then possibly more once they've seen it :banghead: and 4 weeks plus to make it ?

I see they are available in Australia but have been stung something rotten by Customs in the UK from that Continent so not really wanting to go that route.

America seems to want and arm and a leg for postage thats over twice the price than the actual new (old stock) cable???

So folks anyone have any ideas or suggestions.

I have checked Ebay and cant seem to locate a thinner Venhill inner cable kit available so if you have a link please attach or otherwise advise if you can

Thank you

I have used mountain bike control cables , they are usually stainless ( can be soldered ), quite thin ,and come with a nipple fitted ( may or may not be useful ) but they are easily up to a throttle cable job , AND they are real cheap, and can be used as an inner ( use existing outer )
I wish I was young again............Id be heaps smarter than last time

Hey Englishstiv,

Not sure this is what you want but Stein-Dinse (Germany) has a throttle cable for your 907 IE on stock.

https://www.stein-dinse.biz/product_inf ... rettyPhoto = 19 euros + freight.

If you think it is something for you, I propose you give them a call (or email) to check on the cable thickness (should be ok, but hey a call is all it takes to be sure).

Good luck though

Frank
