750S parts!

so i'm finally biting the bullet and swapping to 900ss forks and wheels. anyone have a need for stockers? i have complete front and rear ends including triples, brakes, hardware, cush drive, clipons, wheels, etc (keeping the swingarm and rear axle). parts all have 9480 original miles on em. forks have been stripped of paint and half-heartedly polished. they've got progressive springs and were serviced last year - about 300 miles on fresh seals and oil.

there's a crack in the top of the left-hand fork where i accidentally banged it last time i changed seals. this goes from the top lip of the slider down to the surface of the fork seal and stops there. this is in the thinnest part of the slider where the dust seal mates. i've toyed with having it brazed, or just using a little jb weld, but it's got some miles on it in this condition and the crack hasn't moved. doesn't affect functionality. i imagine the crack will eventually propagate around the entire lip if nothing is done, at which point it won't be able to hold a dust seal.

left-hand clip-on is slightly bent from when the sidestand poked through fresh asphalt. i think it can be straightened, but i haven't tried.

and i'm sure someone needs a third set of spare wheels? for what it's worth, they're pristine with fresh rubber.

I have the same parts in my garage for sale too.
Keep us posted on the change over on the bike. Love to hear your impression of how different it rides. I put 17's on my mine, and think its a great fun bike.

I noticed your oil cooler was switched out to a 749/999 cooler? Any issues with over heating? I would think it would be better cooling from the 749/999 cooler?

Funny, I have one of those oil coolers on the shelf, and plan to do the same on my project bike. What hoses did you use?

That crack in the picture looks like the typical crack when a screw driver or similar is used to lever out the seal instead of driving a screw into it and pulling it out with pliers.

the crack happened as a result of intimate contact between the slider and a hard bench surface. i then attempted to carefully bang it back into shape, but aluminum will be aluminum.

viper and phil: yes, that oil cooler is from a 749/999. based on my very scientific observations (gloved hand on the vertical cylinder), it works great. in any case it can't be worse than the original (though i'm a little suspicious of the trade-off between oil cooling and reduced air flow over the heads). there's a thermocouple probe fitting in there up by the battery, but it isn't yet hooked up to a gauge. bike is down again for yet another metamorphosis over the winter. i'll let you know when i have real numbers in the spring. had to make the hoses myself since i couldn't find anything off the shelf that i liked. aeroquip or earl's or some such fittings as i recall. just had to find the right adaptor for the case. i believe it's an an-6 flare on that oil cooler.
