DESMOMATIC Ducati Paso Lapel Pin

Post by Skins »

To mark the momentous occasion of our site achieving One Thousand Members, a Special Solid Silver hand-made Ducati Paso Lapel Pin, featuring a specially-designed 'DESMOMATIC' attachment system, which keeps the pin always neat and flat on the lapel (because the only thing worse than a floppy lapel pin is of course valve-bounce) is now available

Image

The front of the pin, 33 mm by 12 mm, on black leather. The lettering is taken from the Owners Manual, and is identical to the lettering to be found on the numbered headstock plaques of limited edition models of the period, and on later models like the 916 Senna

Image

The back of the pin, showing the 'DESMOMATIC' attachment system. It may look a bit clumsy (just like Ducati valve gear when you see it for the first time) but it does exactly the same job of keeping things neatly in place

This pin costs a bit more than the pins on the official Ducati website, in fact it costs about double. But that's because it's solid silver, and it's hand-forged (made by hand with tools) a process with much more class than casting, and of course the 'DESMOMATIC' attachment system means it won't flop around while you're wearing it. Also the price includes shipping by air, and there will be no taxes or duties to pay. Those costs are not included in the price of the Ducati website pins

The pin costs US$25.00, payable to my PayPal account, erskinehewett@slingshot.co.nz It will be shipped to you as soon as your payment shows. Just go to PayPal on the internet, and they tell you how to do it. You will notice I'm an 'Unverified Seller', but don't worry, you can trust me. Please include your shipping address with your payment details.

Many thanks,
Erskine

I'm in! You have Paypal ...

Thanks for creating and offering this, skins. I'm really psyched. Is there any way you could number them, or sign them?

Can't wait! Thanks again :D

Quality effort Erskine!
so good in fact that I think I will have a couple. That price with postage included is a bargain, you don't get many hand made 'anything' for $20(oz) these days, not like when I was a boy & $20 was enough to feed a village for a month....Money on its way to you real soon. ( no discount for me I am happy to pay you for it).

Thanks Paso friend

Thanks very much for your orders. The first DESMOMATIC Ducati Paso Lapel Pins are finally on their way out into the world - only three of them at this stage, I'm afraid - to fasterdammit in Syracuse, NY, Rod Ormsby in Sydney, Australia, and DuCMaN in the Hague, Holland.

I had only three silver blanks left from the design and prototype stage. More metal arrived yesterday, and is with the die-maker for 'striking' today. If I get it back this afternoon I can get stuck into making more pins over the weekend.

Anyway, I should be able to start sending out everyone else's orders early next week.

Thanks Skins for the update, from what you say there'll be PASO silver badges in all corners of the globe in a few weeks time.

Great idea - looking forward to seeing what they are like "in the metal" !!

A batch of nine Paso Pins, one showing the front and the others displaying their DESMOMATIC attachment systems in all their glory. The mechanism actually looks a lot better in real life, and in fact I'm quite proud of it. It works extremely well in keeping the pin firm and flat on the lapel, and it was about ten times harder than I thought it would be to design something to do that. I take my hat off to mechanical design engineers.
