Wanted: new bodywork panel bolts for Paso 750

Post by Jules »

Hi everyone

I'm new on the forums, but an oldie on the mailing list, maybe someone can help me with this:

My local Ducati shop wants 14,000yen, approx $150, to supply a set of 30 panel bolts (even though I only want 24) for the bodywork of my Paso 750. I actually want silver or chrome screws as per the Paso prototype, and not the standard black version. My bike is painted silver and fresh silver/chrome bolts will set it off JUST perfectly! Durabolt and Pogipollini make overpriced nearly correct versions, but does anyone know where I can get the correct M8 x 15mm versions at a more realistic price?

Many thanks

There are such screws near every internet mc stores in Europe, so MUST be also in Japan!!! Can be found in many colours(anodised).... But i think, DSUZ(or was it DZUS) fasteners are much better choise, but more expensive surely.... Try google with those mc shops.... There are very many in Europe, like in Germany.

Try search these at least:

Thanks Finnpaso, but I should have said that I have looked in every bikeshop here where I live in Japan; the problem is that it's easy to find M6 bolts (6mm diam) in every colour and shape, but I need M8 (8mm diam) for my Paso, and they just don't seem to exist.

Thanks for your shop list; today I e-mailed Busters accessories to see what they can do.

Cheers

Jules,

It's Jon from the Yahoo list! Good to see you in the forum here.

If you find the screws here in the USA you can have them shipped to me and then I will mail them to Japan.

We should also move this thread to the 750 Paso part of the forum.

Jules, Likewise for the UK,

I would say go for Dzus quick release alen key type fastners though.

If you use a mixture of the clip on back plates and the rivet on type it should work very well and make fairing removal alot easier.
I already use the D ring type on my side panels as the come off so often to top up oil and adjust preload etc. the only ones you may still need are the ones attaching the top fairing to the tank.

Also try " Pro bolt" in the uk and a company called "Mr Fastener"

Btw, from what company You guys have bought those Dzus fasteners? I am thinking to put them to ST4S, cause those fairings are much more difficult to open, than Pasos fairings are

You can buy direct from DZUS and it is much cheaper but you have to buy in bulk - perhaps a group buy ?

From WHAT country those DZUS fasteners come from ??? If from USA, then better, that USA guy makes all needeed things and send to other countries, and if made in EU, then some here in EU area make deal with factory...

Do they sell from factory direct??? Seems, that U know something about this thing

I am in deal, if find vise solution, but surely also shipping coast, but maybe not so mch, cause can be send by letter, not need package, what is much higher priced.....

Should we open new topic about DZUS fasteners and everybody, who needs then check prices from own country and we discuss them more ???

Antti from past experience Dzus need to have orders in the realms of thousands of units to make a significant discount on group buys

I'd be in for group-buy on Dzus fasteners, if someone were to put it together ...

I understand the idea of using DZUS fasteners, sounds interesting (though expensive) but not sure whether it would improve the looks or not. I prefer to stick to my original plan to source chrome or natural alloy M8 screws. Btw, only one out of five suppliers has bothered to reply so far to my query, and that was with a negative, so for the time being I'll just T-Cut the original screws back to their original steel finish, and clear coat lacquer them.

Thanks guys for all your help so far, and the quest continues.....!
