Any Bay Area Paso riders out there? Northern California
Hello!
Are there any Bay Area Paso riders out there? I'm a native San Franciscan but I live in north Marin county on Hwy 1 - Tomales, to be exact - and am looking for other Paso enthusiasts to get together with and envy each others rides, etc. I can be reached here anytime.
BTW - This is concerning the Northern California area - Thxs!

A couple of us are meeting at Alices in Woodside for a ride on Saturday, around 9:00 am. Breakfast, then a ride. Back home around 1-2. I'll ride the Sport.
Cheers,
Phil

Ethan,
I'll post a bit earlier next time. Everyone else decided it would be too wet for a good ride, so nobody went out. I guess we get kinda spoiled here in Sunny California.

Hey Randy - Sorry, missed your reply. I've been working like mad these last two months after 2 years on unemployment. How was your ride on the 16th?randtcastell wrote:hey ethan, i'll be riding up the coast from fairfax to jenner on saturday 1/16/10. passing tomales bay around 10:30 am. busy then? best, randy
As you know its brutal weather at the moment here in California. I actually moved my bike from the cover of the back porch to the safety of the shop yesterday.
I wasn't looking forward to the possibility of any falling trees getting the best of me.
As you probably already know Randy, the riding really begins at Jenner - once you get to Stewart's Point you can go inland on Skagg Springs rd. to Lake Sonoma/Geyserville
then back down 101. Another favorite ride of mine is up to Cloverdale then northwest through Anderson Valley (Hwy 128) along the Navarro River to Hwy 1 and the town of
Mendocino. Once there you have the choice of going back down Hwy 1 (the best part in my opinion) or up Hwy 1 over to Leggett at Hwy 101 and then cruise up to the Avenue
of The Giants on the Eel River.
Obviously I like the long rides! Unfortunately my tail bone starts complaining fairly quickly with the Paso - I think I'm going to have to rebuild my seat with a "Gel" insert.
Yup! Thats wine country Higgy - I have to say that with all the land grabbing and developing here in northern California, vineyardshiggy wrote:Nice Picture Ethan, Is that a vineyard at the end of that rainbow ?
have saved a lot of the land from the housing developers - they are popping up everywhere nowdays.

Yeah, some gnarly weather out here right now, so not so good for riding.
If that Paso's hurting you after some miles, maybe you should consider her younger sister, the ST.
You can pick up an ST2 for a song, and they are lovely bikes. I love mine for longer rides.
Cheers,

Re: Any Bay Area Paso riders out there? Northern California
skagg springs road is god's gift to motocyclists! coleman valley road is good. i met friends in fairfax sat. morn, but we rode back to the east bay hills due to the fog. grizzly peak, skyline and golf links road we slightly sunny and it was a short ride, but always great to be on the paso. i find my foot cramps up after about 100 miles. rearsets would be great for the paso...
best, randy.

So, You have also ST2! I like it also for longer journeys and i have side and top cases and Bagster tank bag on it....Its so much modern Ducati comapred to Paso's. Only farings are awfull to take away... I am thinking to put some Dzus fasteners set to it (when find enough cheaply them from EU area, anybody?)ducinthebay wrote:

I had a 98 ST2, which I modified a lot, then upgraded to ST4s. The Dzus modification is well worth the time and effort if you work on your bike alot. This is a very good group for all things ST, and even some Paso stuff:

Thanks! Look "Off-Topic" section, as i put there one question about ST bikes...
Ps, i do 96% of all maintainings by myself, so Dzus fasteners will be very usefull in ST, as fairings are awfull painfull to remove/put back...
