Re: what else is in your garage?
Thanks, it's an '84 WR250. Engine was toast when I bought it back in August '08 so it was rebuilt and is now like new! I lusted for an '83 or '84 WR back then but was in college and certainly couldn't afford a Husky. Not sure I can afford it now. She's no beauty queen but is solid as a hammer. Only down-side is that my clutch arm is going to look like Popeye's arm soon! Talk about stiff clutch....

Re: what else is in your garage?
The dual rear shocks and the plastic tank gave the year away. I always liked the rare WR400 that Dick Burlson was riding in late '83-'84. It was twin rear shocked and lizuid-cooled.whitepaso wrote:it's an '84 WR250.
I don't know about the 250, but with the 430, when the clutch cable came out of the sheath and down to the clutch arm on the engine case, there was a fairly severe angle to it that added resistance to the lever pull. Bending the clutch actuator arm up a little bit made the cable come out in-line and reduced the binding. This was a trick I learned about in Dirt Bike magazine when they test rode the '83 WR430 (they called it the "Milk Truck"). Bending up the actuator arm did help a little bit. Note - The actuator arm on the '83 WR430 was stamped steel with a rib for strength, but it was fairly easy to bend upward that little bit.whitepaso wrote:Only down-side is that my clutch arm is going to look like Popeye's arm soon! I'll look into bending that arm; I'm pretty sure it's the same as yours was. I also have the "shorty" levers on the handlebar and they need to be replaced with full length levers.

Re: what else is in your garage?
Haha. You'd laugh if you could see everything - we are garageless at the moment so everything except the NS400R is spread around various neighbours and relatives.
We'll be at Le Mans in June in the Bentley if anyone else is going!

No time to be ashamed Antti,Was working 80 hours a week at the time the picture was taken.
Had my first full weekend off in almost a year this weekend.Got a new job working in an engine lab with regular hours.Had a choice today.Clean the garage or go for a ride. Almost decided to clean the garage after finding a choke lever for Jon. In the end I went for a ride the garage will be there when I get back.
