New front tire 120/70 16

Post by Stefano »

The Gilera brand has made a new maxi scooter with the front tire Pirelli Diablo 120/70 16 the perfect size to have a good handling with Paso.
The maximum speed of this scooter is about 200 km/h. :D

Well, I have this tire on the front of my paso, the only downfall is that it rubs on the front fender at high speeds and during braking. I removed my fender and the plate it is on. With a little grinding of the plate, I was able to put one set of washers on the underside of the plate giving the fender the one millimeter of clearance needed to clear the tire. I do like the tire though and it is very inexpesive, and handles well. It is z rated for speed as well, which I am sure is enough for a paso. I believe Z is a 149 mph rating. I checked and get conflicting conclusions. Some tire sites say Z rating is 149 mph, and others say it is 187, either way, that is plenty for the paso.

just one millimeter?
a fender should need a wider clearance to work safely!
Such a thin space might be the trap for a mall stone!!
have a nice ride, Nicola

There is another local person with a 906, and i actually was able to measure the gap in his front fender from wheel to fender, and found I actually have more clearance than stock, not by much though.
