you're the boss, mike, but are you sure you've got this the right way around? i'm the one who thought up the 'creative writing' forum, and fasterdammit then came up with the other.

also, what is involved in moderation? the web world is a new one for me, you know ...

doh! i never said i didn't get things mixed up!

so you guys hash it out lol and I'll make hit happen. :D

moderation means that if someone posts something that doesnt belong, is offensive, whatever, that you have the power to change, delete or move posts.

OK! That's great, thanks mike.

How about you, fasterdammit? I'm guessing that's the way you saw it - you with the bike newsy stuff , and I'll look after the 'creative' stuff.

Unless someone comes up with something better than "Aiming for the Apex" etc, say by the end of next week - St Valentines's Day - I'll go with that for a Forum name.

Hey fasterdammit! I have a suggestion for a name for your Forum, referred to above by mike as 'bike news - not paso'. How about

THE WRITE LINE
discuss written material and news of interest to our members

goes with Aiming for the Apex, eh? Waddaya reckon?

Good to hear, steele!

have you read much of lawrence? i've only seen the movie, and read what he wrote about biking. the writing rang really true for me. it was legal to ride on public roads without a helmet when i started on my velo venom - but unlike lawrence, i did put on a lid to do the ton.

Mike,
I'd be honored to moderate the bike talk forum. Very cool! So do we relegate it to strictly Ducati talk, or motorcycles in general? I'm thinking, if we leave it open, there's greater opportuntiy to attract traffic.

hmm ... what to call it ... I like the Write Line, but at a glance, I'd almost expect to see ride reports or stuff that should appear in Aiming for the Apex (which I really like). So, just throwing stuff out there ... Industry Talk, Pulse of the Industry, Background Static/Noise, Two Wheeled News, Life on Two Wheels, Two Wheeled Life, Tuesday Night Topics/Talk, Ride Topics/Talk/Discussions, Bike Banter ... Any of these sitting well with anybody?

Jake

I reckon your "newsy bike talk" forum should not be restricted to Ducati stuff, Jake. as you say, keeping it open increases its potential.

also, I reckon your're right about 'The Write Line'. after I posted that suggestion I started to think the same way.

of the other possibilities you suggest, I like "Background Static". there's a bit of a kick to it, and it's a bit tech, also.

hmm ... how about

'PISTON SLAP' - background noise and news

or

'TAPPET RATTLE' - ditto

Ooooh, now I'm seeing something ... Clutch Chatter? (Ok, so that sounds more like a forum for dry clutch bikes ... ) hm, Idle Noise/Noises? 'Idle' lends itself in two directions ... and every bike has an idle (or at least, they're supposed to when they're running). Or what about Two Wheel Talk? Of those two, I like Idle Noise ...

You're right on with the bike-related noises, definitely!

yeah, I like Idle Noise too.

then we've got other bike effects, like 'COMBUSTION' and 'INTAKE'. 'EXHAUST' is a no-no, I suspect.

hum ...

"Exhaust Notes" came to me later this afternoon ...

Mike? What's your take?

subtle, Jake, subtle ... refined and not refined at the the same time. suspect on account of possible offense, to my mind. but then I'm the sensitive type.

what about components and systems, like:
