hi skins,
had a hair test last monday. had to wait till they got the results and they called wed to come in fridayfor the physical. thought maybe the nurse would do everything but as it turns out the dr. (male) fandangled my danglers!
started monday for 2 1/2 days of orientation. there were 10 of us in the group, some started the week b-4 but did the training with us. one kid was escorted out wed noon, seems he was late to work all three days?! this was after the plant manager gave us the rules on tardiness and absenteeism on monday. i could tell he meant business, don't know what the kid was thinking??!!??
it a good job, machine repair. they keep the plant a/c'd in the summer to help keep tolerances on the cranks and for rust prevention. it's not done for us but we get to reap the benefits.
i will be on a weekend crew. work 11 a.m sat till 11 p.m, then the same sunday. 24 hrs work for 36 hrs pay. i'm hoping to work tuesday thru friday also as one other guy is doing. he other national guy has been there 8 yrs now and was working 7 days 12 hrs till this year. he quit working sundays, scaled it back to 72 hrs a week.
yup, i'm shouting but have a 90 working days probation to get thru b-4 i'm formally hired and in the union so am somewhat apprensive till then. it's almost too good to be true and wonder when i'm gonna wake up!
i singed up for sat and sun this week and will work all the o.t. i can. i'll be on day shift for a month or so ,so will be working abunch but am happy about it. don't know what i did right to deserve this good fortune but am afraid to ask. scared sh-tless i'll oversleep or something stupid and screww this up but the true is i'll probably just wake up.
thanks for asking. i have been reading this forum but not taking the time to post much. what a great bunch here to be a part of.
regards,wiggs and meanie

That's great news, Wiggs! I had a little trouble with some of the words in your post (my knowledge of the Hillbilly language, and also of medical terms, is absolutely nil, I'm ashamed to say) But it seems like very good result. I'll have a double Glenfiddich, with a little cold water, and no ice, thanks. Cheers!

How about the commute - is it a good ride? I've picked up a couple of geographical referrences in your posts - like 'Mid-Ohio' - and I had a bit of a look at that part of the United States on the internet. It looked like a nice area to get around. A healthy interest in motorsports, too.

G'day, Melody!

hey skins,
melody said to tell you you're her favorite pasophile.
reminds me of the time the ship ported in corpus christy for christmas. those going on break left, those returning stayed home till the day after christmas and those unfortunate souls (me) who were in the middle of their trip stayed with the ship. the company had a christmas dinner for us at a restaurant. my cousin was readying for a shower and heating up the water as it can take awhile for the hot water to travel down the pipes. as he reached in to cut back the hot water some the shower head hose broke and scalded his upper inner thigh and seeds.we took him to the hospital where he was treated. the nurse gave him some salve to put on his burns and he told her he was afraid the blister would break and he thought it better if she applied it!!!!! so,my theory is if someone is going to have their hands down there i would rather it was a female, but i guess it depends on a persons sexual preference.
my commute is about 22 miles or about 35 minutes. job is great so far.so good in fact i wonder if something will happen to screw this up. seems like all the overtime a person wants.once i get caught up and seem heading in the right direction i just might consider a ducati 1000 gt when they come out.that may be some time as they haven't starting building them yet and they are last on the list of the 3 retro bikes ducati MAY build.
this part of ohio is mostly flat but the glaciers carved up easten and southern ohio very nicely. about a half hour east it starts to get interesting and gets better as you go . mid-ohio sports car course is less than an hour from us and nestled in some very nice hills. makes for a good track with great viewing. we're located mid way between toledo and columbus. upper sandusky, not to be confused with sandusky which is right on lake erie. the sandusky (indian name) river flows north into lake erie and we're UP river hence upper sandusky.
i didn't mean to confuse anyone with my anotomy terms, just didn't want to be too explicit.hopefully you'll get my drift on the "danglers" and someone having their hands there.
my daughter called from kansas last night and i could hear the tornado sirens going off in the background.she said a twister went over the town she's in and there were more in the area.she foned back an hour later and said the storms had passed. that was one long hour for us and probably even longer for her.
there was a picture in time or newsweek acouple of years ago taken near the hospital where melody was working at that moment with a twister in the background.ya'll don't have twisters in new zealand do you?
i buy a bottle of glenfiddich or glenlivet about once a year.usually takes that long to finish it unless i have help.i enjoy the single malts but not really big drinker of liquor.i don't usually frequent bars and am not a member of any of the "animal rights clubs"(eagles, elks moose etc...) so i do enjoy a good ,for american, beer , michelob amber bock but usually in moderation.i did say usually, gettin' too old to wake up feeling like hit by a truck! i'll buy you that drink soon i hope. cheers mate.

Hey wiggs! I'm over the moon that Melody thinks I'm OK. Good onya, Melody!

We have only occasional small twisters in a couple of places here, wiggs, but I've had one in my head for the last day or two.

I found this picture of Rossi, you see, squatting on the ground in a kind of foetal crouch in front of his bike on the starting grid of a GP, 'performing his usual ritual' according to the caption. I thought this was rather interesting, and so I've been trying to figure out how to put pictures into posts, so that the members could see it, and perhaps someone could shed some light on what this ritual is all about. I'll try and figure it out soon and post the pic.

I refer to the pic in one of my posts in 'Who is your favourite Racer?' in 'Idle Noise', and I put a link there which will let you see the pic if you follow it and 'go to page 4 of wallpapers etc...' so you can see it for yourself if you want to.

If anyone can, and feels like doing it, they can beat me to it and post the pic in 'Who is your favourite Racer?' if they like, and get everybody thinking.

I'm looking forward to getting into the geography soon, and seeing where you live, wiggs, when the twister leaves my head.

Well, wiggs (hi Melody) the twister left my head (I get migraines you see, real bad - the 2,3,4-day variety) and I figured out how to post pics in posts (real easy, just a lot of clicking as Windows XP takes you through it) and I put up the 'Rossi ritual' pic which I hope people will enjoy.

So I had a look around your part of the world on the net, and it looked lovely. I could easy spend a couple of days there, just on the net. Lots of Indian stuff - except they don't live there anymore - caves and archeology, lovely natural scenes, flowers - even, I think, a song from my youth:

Indian Lake
is a place you should make
in the summer time
When the weather is fine ...

You and Melody were probably still rocking sweetly in your cradles.

hi red,skins and crew,
was asked by my boss how i like it here. i told him i heard another place up the road was hiring! spoke to the plant manager 2-day and was asked the same question and i gave him the same answer. i also told them both that i like it here and had NO plans to look into the other job. told my boss that i want the interview with him to be my last.
the guy who i'm shadowing told me they're probably more worried that i will leave than i am about being let go, so all sounds encouraging. i've been waking at 1:15 A.M. and working 3 to 3 P.M. all week and saturday as well, will only work 8 hours sunday then start this vicious cycle all over again monday. got some bills to catch up on then try and pay the house off but that's a big challenge. i can do the 80-84 hr work weeks for a year or two as it's happened b-4,just hope the opportunity continues to be available, been told it should but...
at this rate the paso is safe and the davidson too along with the rest of the junk. if,and only if this continues i have in the back of my feeble mind a ducati 1000 gt when they come out.hopefully the finances will be in order by then and it will be a reality. worki
ng these hours a feller has to have something to strive for doesn't
he?
skins, you are right about the history around here. i bought a '66 bmw about 5 miles from here about 25 yrs ago (yes,i still have it) and it was yards from where the indians burned col. crawford at the stake, yikes! i don't blame them as the situation was bad at the time. seems the col.'s buddy, geo. washington, sent him up here to stop a mess the white man started and he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. read the book"'expidition against the sandusky" and learned alot about our local history. american t.v. as a kid lead us to believe the indians did the scalping but it turns out we,the white man, taught them that trick.
i have a buddy who hunts arrowheads in the fields this time of year.he has a nice collection.i couldn't find one if it jumped out of the ground. i do have some indian pottery pieces i found during my land seismic days in colorado.
i can feel for ya skins on the migranes as melody gets them occasionally,i just hope i'm not the cause of them! i don't get headaches unless i "enjoy" too much scotch. luckily that doesn't happen too much anymore, just wish looking back i wasn't such a slow learner.lost too many nice days in my youth hanging over (the toilet).
enjoyed the poem but not sure about the cradle thing. i see 50 coming fast.that's my new goal for the house as i missed the last target miserably at 45 a few yrs ago.

All sounds good, wiggs.

That wasn't a poem, it was lines from a 'pop' song of about 30 years ago. When I saw 'Indian Lakes' on the map of Ohio, I figured the song must have been about summer trips there.

Wiggsy, great to hear the Paso ( & Hog ) are safe, but i am wondering when you will get time to mount either with the hours you are working. It is always nice to get ahead on the finances though & it does not happen without hard work (in my experience) so good on you mate. If I was your employer I would be concerned about loosing a worker like thath too.

Just on that Scalping thing, it is very much in evidence in every part of the world "Colonised" by the English, yet they state they were civilising the barbarians when they come in & kill all before them for land & riches. Funny but I did not learn this at school or on TV either.

Any way I hope the 1000 GT becomes a reality, it sounds like you will have earned it & I am sure your daughter would agree

Some of the above is a bit extreme for this time and place, isn't it cuz? There are ladies here, you know. A spot of editing might be in order, I'd say.

Yeah you are right Skins, I have edited to make a bit more site appropriate, It is just one of those triggers that sets me off really bad. Especially as our indiginous record in this country is not a good one but it does not appear to be good anywhere the white man has taken over does it? ( I wont get started again).
