Paso members in the US...can someone help?...pretty please!

Post by 907pasonut »

hi, this is not paso related, but for the 851...
I have sourced 4 fairing panels from sharkskinz in Florida, they still make them for the 851/888
the 4 panels come in 2 boxes ready for shipment the larger box measures 21"x 24"x 39" and weighs 18 pounds and the other box is 19"x 19"x 40" and weighs 10 pounds.
the problem is that I've been quoted between $1000 and $1100 to ship them to Melbourne Australia, I was wondering if this can be done cheaper through a different US company or by sea freight.
if there is a cheaper way can someone let me know, everything will be paid from here...and who knows, I might return the favor one day
Cheers Claude.

USPS is generally the cheapest way to ship with out the import hassles, unless of course you can find a US citizen heading your way

higgy, I'll ring USPS next week and see what they say...and if any Paso members want to come over to Aus for a holiday, there will be a vacant house here after April...free accomodation for a month if you can bring the friggin boxes over...and maybe a ride on the 907/851
Cheers Claude.

Claude,

Email me off list and lets see what we can do. It has to do with the sizes of the boxes and not the weight.

I looked at the US Postal Service quickly and it all about the size. Shark Skins has quoted you about the right price for that sized boxes. They need to really reduce them to get the pricing down.

Go here www.usps.com and choose international pricing. Use that large package and then put in the dimensions. It's UGLY prices. They may have the "overprotected" and over packed.

thanks for your suggestions, so far there is a shipping company that will ship to Melbourne for around $413.00 USD...thats a bit more digestible
it will be by slow boat, but I',m not in a hurry, so thats ok
still waiting for confirmation, so I'll wait and see :-P
Cheers Claude.
