Anybody ever use a guarantee of payment other than PayPal? I'm looking at making a purchase from England and I'm in the U.S.. We've settled on a price but the seller doesn't have PayPal. Obviously I don't want to send a bunch on cash via Western Union (or whoever) and never get the goods.

Other than pay pal I have just deposited the loot directly into the vendors acc . I wouldn't do this for a private sale but genuine businesses have to much to loose by ripping you off .... But there is always the risk and the fact that the seller doesn't have pay pal or similar is odd for an international vendor. Caviat emptor

This is with a private individual. I'm looking for something like PayPal but a company that provides a guarantee of delivery before the money is paid out.

Genuine businesses don't care as much as you think.
Especially if you have no recourse, by paying via cash/wire.

Euros quite often will tell you no paypal, even if they have it.
The reason is because they know if you pay via Paypal or CC and
there is a problem, intentional or otherwise, you can hold them accountable.

If they have no paypal account they can open one.

No Paypal = Warning Sign, especially f you offer to pay the paypal fees.
