Reading the post about how much fuel you can get in a tank upright or on the side stand started a mini thread about fuel costs. So I have started a main thread to get an idea how much we are paying.

So I wondered how much does a litre of Petrol cost around the world

Now according to my ready reckoner

1 UK Gallon is equal to 4.54609 litre and 1 US Gallon is equal to 3.78541 litre

Having said that we can no longer buy it in Gallons at that pumps, so where once it used to go up in price in just pennies at a time now they show it in litres they add the same amount in pennies but 4 plus times over :banghead: :banghead: = Europe has a lot to answer for with that Decimalisation?????

In the UK and at my local Supermarket (Asda and Tesco) where the cheapest fuel is to be had. We pay at present £1.10 per litre which is about £5.06 per UK gallon here in Manchester.

Locally it is as high as £1.17p and has been £1.24p recently.

Of that cost around 65% is UK tax and 17.5% is Value Added Tax so 82.5% total tax!!!!

Amazingly because of this weird method of taxation our Government can keep claiming that as a percentage our fuel is cheaper now than in the 1970's etc etc and therefore can keep adding incremental amounts in tax each year.

Hopefully you can do your own like for like comparison?

Here about 1,58 Euro's just now.... Btw, i drive ONLY WHAT NEEDEED to drive (motorbikes) with low kms in sandy roads with KTM and luckily i have Bi-fuel V70 Volvo (2007) for going to and from work witch uses natural gas(CNG). CNG price is now here about 51% of 95 octane fuel price, so it is "cheap" fuel....

Ok, surely i have to make some very long European journeys with motorbikes, but this next summer i spend here in Finland with KTM....Ok, maybe some small journeys to Russian Karelia with totally horrible roads and conditions...

In the northern California San Francisco bay area on average:

$4.05 to $4.50 USD for 1 gallon 87 octane

I stopped buying premium about 2 months ago (Paso has been in the barn all winter) :truck:

I drive a Mitsubishi 3.0 V6 Galant so a full tank is $60 and my mileage varies from 20 to 25 mpg
