Not sure if everyone see's this but here in the UK we keep getting a load of shite threads and postings from what appears to be spam. They seem lately to come from the old Eastern block area looking at all the aaaaa's, zzzz's, yyyyyyyyy's and ooo's in their tags?

Why do people do this?

What fun do they gain?

What effect does it have on our computers when we log into the site ?

Just curious with my idle mind...

it annoys the hell out of me as I have to ban everyone and delete each single post manually.
The posts won`t affect your computer, just don`t click on any of those links.
Some posts are just to make money as some companies do pay for clicks to their website others may be to push the own website to a better position in the search engine rankings. If you have a website for instance, the more sources refer to you the higher you climb in the search engine ranking. Which again can be interesting if you`re making money with it.
However something needs to happen, I totally agree.

The easiest solution would be not to allow any posting without approval of the moderators.

no way. I`ve got other things to do The easiest would be that new subscribers are approved by the mods but that is not that easy due to technical reasons.
Currently we`re a closed club. New subscriptions are not possible at the moment as that function was deactivated.
Sorry for everyone who`s seriously interested ìn joining but at the moment theres no other way.
You`ll have to try another time hoping until then we`ve found a way to keep the unwanted out.
