hello all!

Post by nnnnnnorman »

hello all its nnnnnnorman back from ages ago....how's things in paso world? i've had to lay my paso up for a while and have been having one problem after another with my st2 to boot! luckily i had a new toy...an ccm r30 with the 710cc kit on it..... to ride about on. been missing the ducati power though so i've just fitted a new clutch starter assembly and got the st2 motted and back on the road....hooray! the ccm is ok for short blasts etc and great fun but the st2 is what i need for that proper ride sensation! now my problem is this.... all the plastics have been on and off more times than a stippers g string and are on their last legs, plus i've busted both mirror stems and the screen so i'm planning on turning her naked! sexy i can hear you all saying...a naked st2. on a budget though.... no thrills. i've gotta use all the st's running gear..wheels, brakes, frame, swing arm, the lot.... so what i need is advice on where to hide the battery and coils and other bits....head lights and rear lights, indicators etc etc. any pictures of specials out there so i can steel ideas anything really to help change my bike from standard to radical over the winter.....dirrerent tank and seat? instruments and mountings? exhaust system? all help and advice appreciated. cheers

Nnnnnnnnnorman,

For a bit of inspiration have a look at http://thekneeslider.com/ They have recently featured some faired bikes turned into naked. They are so good it looks like something from the factory.
Cheers,
Fraser.

:)

You could well end up with a bike that's real fun to ride, nnnnorman.

A few years ago, all my bodywork was off after a prang, and whilst waiting to get the bodywork back, I set about tuning my DelOrtos. For several weeks I went test riding around the winding roads where I was living with just wheels, frame, motor and exhaust, instruments, seat, lights, and a small fuel tank made from one of those cans that hold four tennis balls.

In that set up she had excellent acceleration, and was real fun to throw around. With the bodywork back on, she was back to her sluggish (but loveable) self.

Hello nnnnnnnnnorman, good to have you around again. Here's a pic of my namesake. I bought this bike 10years ago already naked and do a bit to it each year. No problem with battery or watercooling to pretty up on these so a lot easier than your project. I've seen a couple of ST's streetfightered and they can look really good. A Lithium battery would be smaller and easier to hide but are not cheap. Also if you have the earlier ST with the 350 watt alternator you might be asking too much of it.
