Thank you once again to the folk that helped with my damper pictures in the thread here

http://forums.ducatipaso.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3879

All I had left of my unit on my purchased bike was the internals below the circlip and as such the the unit was useless and when cleaned of the compacted rubber gunk that had been squirted inside also leaked oil.

With the parts that were left of my old one and the pictures and dimensions supplied on this site, my mate (and he really is my best mate - regardless of this neat piece of work) managed to slave for eight hours and by hand tools alone, produce this replacement that functions perfectly.

The whole internal plastic unit was replaced in all it's individual stages and fully replicated. I chose not to have the numbers engraved as function was more important.

For the record he now has the knowledge to manufacture more if really essential as this was to me.

A small part of my rebuild but essential and the end of an 18 month frustrating worldwide search for an original replacement.

Stiv, nicely done. I`d add at least one reference mark and in case you`re missing the rubber boot put some silicone grease or something else not petrol based on the stop ring. Otherwise water will stand in there and it will start to rust sooner or later. (see my own)
