My Mikunis are now filtered.

As I have written before, I have mounted my mikunis, and now created an air filter solution. The foam filter are from "Twin Air". The tubes are two 90 degree bends from my local "Bits and things for car dealer" . The duc tape will be replaced with a rubber socket. There has been a bit of adaptation for the intakes, but no big deal. I don’t know yet if it works because of the weather in Denmark, but at idling and at reving it, it seems ok. But a road test will determine there function.

Very nice adaptation. I am assuming the elbows are rubber. Very similiar to the ones I used on my bike. 2" id = 50mm. I bought them from http://airflowonline.com/ , the part number is 90HL2 Rubber Intake Hose 90 Degree 2" less than $10 each. I bought some 2" aluminum tubing from the same guys I think, and cut sections to make joiners between the two elbows and put a hose clamp on each side. It looks like a lot of hardware but it is secure. The other possiblity is to use a metal tube as a joiner, and glue them together with some RTV silicone. You can get steel exhaust sections from your auto dealer pretty easily, and cheapely.

I used the joiners between the two elbows, and for attaching the air cleaners, which were also 2". So in total, I used 4 sections of 2" aluminum tube as joiners, 4- 2" rubber elbows, and 8 hose clamps. Its a bit of hardware, but it has a very smooth bore inside. But then I changed it again.

After looking at my installation on my Sport with Dellortos, I decided that I didn't need the second elbows, and took them out. My filters now stick up into the area under the tank where the old airbox once resided. With foam filters, it doesn't matter if they touch the tank, and they will deform to fit. Is that possible with your installation?
