Dear all,
I've just picked up my 907 from Cambridge. Found it on this forum many thanks Mark for the bike and all you chaps who run this forum! Fantastic ride, the handling is a revelation especially after I briefly flirted with the idea of buying a Hinkley Trophy that scared the crap out of me. Brilliant free revving engine with such a spread of power that it's difficult to be in the wrong gear.
Anyway we all know how great these bikes are and I've a few questions. I've not heard the fan come on, which it did on a bike I tested previously even after I switched it off. The temperature indicator goes just a tad over the 175 center mark and stays there. Do some bikes have the fan in a circuit sourced from the ignition switch as opposed to directly from the battery?
The other thing... you've guessed it.... is the clutch. Just like a Morini I had, if I pull off with too many revs in first the clutch slips and judders before it engages. Treat it gently though and you get a beautifull action.
Any ideas?

Fan have own switch in that water pipe between water pump and radiator top connection, where are 3 sensors(one for fan, one for temp meter and one for ECU). Its easy to test fan: put bike to stand and let it run till You can notice, that fan starts to run. Surely needs some +C degrees to do it, but at least mine fan starts easily that way in some mins...
...near forget, fan is lead from battery direct, cause mine still runs some time after i have stopped bike from ignition switch...

Clutch wise that could be one of the three causes my bike has had in the last year
1. worn clutch
2. new clutch fitted with the plates in the wrong order
3. Clutch centre nut not tight enough
wip the cover off and have a play - while your in there clean out all the dust and shite that builds up !

Yes Duc750, the bike originally came from Chris Clarke MCs Cambridge UK. Its a 15000 mile minter, the less educated punters at work reckoned it must be brand new he he! I'm in Sheffield however... can anyone recommend Ducati John or somone else for service? Mind you I've some experience and with your average Ducati service prices I may well leap in there myself.
I'll check the fan and clean the clutch as soon as. I guess its easy to change the clutch pack but a bit more of a challenge to change the basket.

Changing the clutch basket or centre isn't thast much more work than changing the clutch pack to be honest - its pretty obvious where all the bits go once you are in there.
The Haynes manual for the 900ss shows the clutch in all its glory !
If that fails I'm not far waya in Northgampton so can lend you mine if you are desperate
As far as service goes - Baines racing at SIlverstone are agin not "that far" away

Basket change is easy job! Maybe screws have Loctite, so need little power.... Go for STM 48 teeth aluminium basket with all new plates. If U change new basket, remember to change also new plates! Worn plates damage fastly new basket also...
U can find notes/measurements from workshop manual.... 
Ps. remember to tighten screws again to RIGHT torque!!!! Torque table U can find also from workshop manual...
