Bayliss provisional pole with new best lap.

Troy Bayliss waited until the closing moments of first qualifying at Valencia to put in a new lap record of 1min 34.599secs, beating Neil Hodgson's long standing 2003 time of 1min 34.633secs.

Spaniard Ruben Xaus headed the bulk of the session aboard his year-old Sterilgarda Ducati but lost out in the last two minutes when Bayliss pulled the pin.

Hannspree Ten Kate Honda's championship leader James Toseland qualified on the provisional front row, taking up third place, with Noriyuki Haga on the Yamaha Italia in fourth.

I don't follow the racing much. Is this a week or two after he lost his finger? That was Bayliss wasn't it?

It was his third such success of the 2007 season, and comes only two weeks after he had to have most of his right little finger amputated, following a race crash at Donington. The 2001 and 2006 champion had to ride throughout qualifying with a cricket box inside his leathers, to protect his injured groin, but he was a revelation on his way to a best ever SBK dry time on Friday and then his Superpole win.

I also near lost my finger one week ago, sunday, cutted woods for heating and "shit happened"... Only 25% was still conneted to end of finger, so very fastly to hospital and i was there 3 nights and they managed to "connect" end of finger back again.... Now hard painkillers and "illnessholiday" from work... Anyway, i adjusted 750 Paso valve clearances today with one hand working well.... :laugh: Have to say, that plenty of blood came out from me, but surely they give those back to my body in hospital..... Now hurted hand packaged, hard painkillers and antibiots... Drunked from those, so no need any Koskenkorva.... Sometimes life is quite hard... Luckily it was left hand 2.finger, so i think, that i can still use normally hole right hand for acceleration.... One Ducatifriend visted today me and wondered very much, how i manged to adjust Pasos valves with one hand.... :laugh: Okay, i helped little with that broken hand, but mostly with one hand.... 750 valves are now in good order.... For ST4S valve adjustments, its better to take hole engine away from frame to accees places enough well... Also writing this mail with one hand.... :funny:

Finnpaso, I am very sorry to hear that you got injured. Chainsaw or hatchet? Don't risk getting that infected. Take it easy for a while. A one handed valve job must have been tough to do. I imagine you had to move around the bike quite a bit. Glad they saved the tip for you.

By the way...since you have an ST4 how are you liking that. Is the S worth the extra dough? Also what years would you recommend. Don't see them for sale here often and usually pricey......

If memory serves me correct, her name was Lorena Bobbit. After cutting about half her husband's penis off with a knife while he slept, (Ouch!!), she threw the severed portion under a bush, (not "in the rubbish"). She subsequently led police to her husband's severed penis, which was recovered and re-attached. Notwithstanding the fact that the post-surgery results were less than stellar, (apparantly the re-attached portion was unable to become erect during arousal, resulting in a half-hard/half-limp scenario), he went on to star in several porno movies. Life is strange.

Let's hope the final chapter in Troy's severance saga ends better than it did for Mr. Bobbit!

It was very good and sharp hatchet(made in Finland by Fiskars).... so cutting was very acurate and sharp... Also bone broken... I take antibiots for infections, but those with hard painkillers are very hard for stommach.... One Ducatifriend needeed that valve adjusting pieces set, so, thats why i wanted to adjust valves... U were just right: Had to move around bike vewry many times to find right position to hands... But its done, so tomorow i start to clean 750 fuel tank for recoating(inside). Here is very warm, 20C, so good weather for washing/drying fuel tank before chemicals, what comes later.....

I searched right ST4S for one and half year, when i found from Germany one, what was just exact, what i was loking for. I wanted older shape 2002, cause that have still easier electrics, 2002 have cute/nice metal grey frame, what fits very well with red colour. S modell is equipped much better stuff, than normal ST4. ST4S have Öhlins rear shock with all adjustments, carbon pieces, better Showa front fork, totally different 996 engine compared to ST4 916, much lighter alumium swingarm, much lighter Marchesini wheels, etc.. compared to ST4.... I was never intrested about ST4 modell.... But honesty have to say, that very difficult bike to maintain and spare parts coast very much compared to 2 valvers, like ST2.... BUT THAT POWER !!!! now 117Hp from rear wheel, 128Hp from clutch and 100Nm torque is very nice to feel under ass.... :laugh: :laugh: :laugh:

'bout what I figured on the ST4S, personally I would take an ST2 over the 4.... power is less at top end, but about as good in the usuable range. Thanks for the input

A friend of mine, who is a good mechanic, told me the ST3 is a great bike.
She doesn't have the same power than the ST4, but a greater torque.
When I asked him some advice about a good bike, he had no doubt: ST3!

the ST3...almost never see one for sale would be curious also. They are blowing the unsold MS1000 out at the dealers here as the new 1100 has a cheaper MSRP and less maintenance.

Xaus carries the Duc colours in race one with a brilliant ride, Bayliss manages 3rd when most guys would be sitting at home nursing their wounds and a beer We don't do as well in race 2 but Xaus puts on a great show, hats off to Biaggi and Toseland though....
