twin mikunis 88 paso 750
twin mikunis 88 paso 750
Hi I have installed twin mikunis and the bike idles and runs fine unti 4k rpm, where it begins to break up badly. the installation was different than the posting i noticed with the fabricated airbox. The only way i could mount them(carbs are not connected) is side by side opposing each other at a 30 degree angle, this was with short manifolds i was able to fit the k and n cone type filters. the shop i bought the carbs form claimthey were only used to bench test ducati race motors and they may be overjetted for my bike as it is stock except for yoshi slip ons, any ideas? the carbs look brand new in and out, not sure what jets are in them, hoped not to have to take them apart!
thank you in advance.
Eric,.

mikuni setting is quite an hard job.
you have to work with main jets additional jets, springs and so on.
You might be happening to face a too lean mixture because of a large amount of wrong settings. If you don't know how to work on it, you'll need a good mechanic help :ugh:

Popping or break up sounds like a lean condition to me. You may have to go into the carbs and install bigger main jets. Like said in the previous post, you want to bring it to qualified mechanic. They should be able to sort it out rather quickly.
Thanks

Hard to find QUALIFIED help here in Tampa!
Also have a 1986 Lamborghini Jalpa, which i have to try to do everything myself, as my previous statement concerns the same problem as to QUALIFIED mechanics is very depressing(lack of)
Italian products are like having the plague here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hi
the needle height from memory was slot 4.
the needle jet ducati part no. 13240041B
the idle jet ducati part no. 13240031B
these are to suit mukuni's for a 96 750 ss as my carbs are off a 96 900 ss.
they work well for me no flat spots and quick throttle action.
hope this helps
