Q about the filter w the 21mm socket on R side cover:
Could this be removed w/o removing engine out of frame?
Did a quick search trough service & owners manual, no answer.

Screen access
Tamburinifan,
You mean the oil system screen that is removed from the right side? If so, just take the bolts out of the segment of frame brace on that side and you will have the needed clearance. You may have to loosen and move the brake lever assembly a little , but sometimes not, depending on the angle. The frame piece sometimes you can loosen and let it drop down some, leaving the lines attached toi it in place.
Not very hard at all. Take the screen out, clean it, inspect for metal fragments. Then make sure frame bolts are very tight when reassembled. I am not sure the torque specs for them but that may be in the manual.
LT Snyder's manual, available at DesmoTimes, discusses that screen I believe.

I think, he mean that coarse filter... I open/clean that filter every 2. oil change. It takes hardest metal shit away from oil before oil is going to normal filter, whitch take smaler shit away....
Take that lower part of frame away by 15mm(remembering now...) wrench, 2 screws in both ends and viola, You can reach filter. I have to take rear brake pedal away for that time to reach 2 back bolts...

Looked at this again this evening.
I still don`t see how this can be done, I can`t get a 1/2" wrech w a 21 mm socket in there.
