Altenative fuel injection system for 907

Post by Tamburinifan »

MyECU P8 for 907IE: http://www.cajinnovations.com/MyECU/index.htm

I know from FHE it works in 907, ST4, 888.
Also fits other Ducs w P7, P8, 1.5 & 1.6 WM ECU like
M900ie 00-01, 851/888, some 916-996, most 748, ST2 & 4, 750 & 900SSie.

Best is to get a used chassi w the big AMP 36-pin connector. You switch PCB, looks like this:

You get the software in a mail, Windows version looks like this (older issue):

Could also be opened w f e Wordpad or similar simple text programs, here`s a part of it:

You could also alter all parameters in Wordpad. You`ll get 2 Guzzi maps to start with so you don`t start from a blank POV
& engine will start w that.
You have full access to all parameters in WM + some good new ones, like f e possibility to connect wideband Lambdas,
set A/F targets, switch to Closed Loop Mode and tune on a Dyno or road and save the result!
Also gives the possibility to tune out the 2-3500 RPM surging issue which I think is much in the OEM mapping,
those ignition figures f sure are different.

Quite simple setup & communication: PC - RS232 adapter - MyECU:

Image

Only quirk is that it uses own TPS breaks values instead of usual percent. But there is a formula to convert that (see below).
Any old laptop will do, I got mine f free and use W98!
If you buy MyECU as a DIY kit you`ll end up w a cost of something like 200-250 Eu.

Been mapping carefully w original map as starting point, 30-40 maps later I`m quite happy w the result:

Image

Measured at rear wheel, SAE.
Engine mods: MyECU P8, ST2 heads, polished inlets & ports, 900SSie cams, HC pistons, optimised squish, open airboxlid w KN race, F1 mufflers.
Good driveability, even 2-3500 RPM 3-4-5th gear, and good punch at 6-8000.
Not so bad f an only assDyno mapped old 907!
Dyno finetuning will follow.

VERY INTRESTING !!!!

Wondering, how it can work with 1, or with 2 pick up bikes? :?:

Edit: Sorry, i check they web sites and they have diffrent versions for replacing P7 and M16 !

Very interesting; I've been wondering if anyone here had played with alternative CPUs. I've been thinking seriously about Megasquirt 2. Not as bolt in, but a very modern, closed loop MAP based EFI system for ~250.00:

I looked into MS, interesting but noone had experience w Duc type engines.
Very positive & helpful bunch, though.
I know there is a Swedish 750 Paso owner who struggles w MS.

You can ask what you want about MyECU, I`ll try to answer...

If you want to try MyCU, here´s how to calculate TPS in it:

HOW TO CONVERT OEM TPS BREAKS IN DEGREES TO MyECU TPS VALUES:

The older nonlinear TPS is actually just 2way linear like this black graph below (red is the newer, linear type):

Image

We need 2 similar formulas (over/under 30 degrees) + 1 more to convert OEM TPS values in degrees to MyECU TPS values, from now on called MyTPS.
MyTPS 0 is 0 in degrees, max throttle MyTPS 1024 is around 80. In Volt it is 0-5,0V (in reality about 4,75V).

Under 30 degrees:
Formula 1a, degrees TPS to mV:
U = 105,75 x t + 150. U is mV, t is throttle opening in degrees & 150 is base TPS in mV.
Example 10 degrees: 105,75 x 10 = 1057,5 + 150 = 1207,5 mV

Formula 2, convert degrees TPS breaks in mV to MyTPS:
Max TPS mV 5000 / max MV value 1024 = 4,88, a constant which we use to convert all mV into MyTPS.
So, f e 10 degrees to MyTPS: 1207,5 / 4,88 = 247 MyTPS.

Over 30 degrees:
Formula 1b, degrees TPS to mV:
U = (t-30) x 28,0835 + 3332
Example 45 degrees: (45-30) = 15 x 28,0835 = 421 + 3332 = 3753 mV
Then use formula 2/constant: 3753 mV / 4,88 = 769 MyTPS.

The RPM breaks in MyECU are the same kind as OEM maps.

The basic formula (1a) is confirmed here as well:
http://www.bikeboy.org/ducati4vthrottleb.html
The relationship between degrees and voltage under 30 degrees throttle opening is: mV = (degrees x 105) + 150
