wiring problems

Post by hondast »

My 1992 907ie has developed electical problems. Both front and back turn signal indicators and the the rear brake light are not working. The rear brake light works when depressing the foot brake pedal but not when using the handlebar lever and all the turn signal bulbs are okay. I've checked and replaced all the fuses. It would seem the problem stems from some bad connection. relay or whatever in the wiring harness located just below the handlebars but I'm stumped. Any suggestions? Wayne

I'm afraid Wayne you have answered your own question in as much that it is a faulty connection, the good news is that it sounds like an earthing problem and most likely the back light is the source follow the cables from inside the lense case to the earth on the frame. You can back test the wire with a voltmeter type tester.

It may be just a new connection ring at the end that needs replacing?

For front brake switch, start from the beginning. A shortcut between the pins on the bulb will give you the first answer.
If it doesn't still work, there should be another multi-pin between the main wiring and the rear wirnig, not far from the battery (I'm not sure where it's located on 907)
Otherwise, on the rear brake switch there should a double pair of wires, some coming from fornt switch and some going to bulbs.
Have a nice work, and
