Is it possible to have a broken gear selector spring and for it to "rattle" on hitting a pot hole? It's similar to the noise from the box when you change gear - on decelerating it's a "metallic shudder"
It's not anything loose on the bodywork or centrestand or exhaust etc - its from inside
It changes gear fine, selects easliy going up and down thru the gears.
What are the symptoms of worn gearbox bearings, are there any tests you can do to narrow the problem down?
Sorry for being so vague, its hard to locate or describe
Tony

Pitty, that Your bike is THERE and i cant hear sound, what i coming out... u shuold come here !
Ok, If You cant locate sound source, i would take bike to some local Ducati Guru to hear it....
anyway,, if it shiftys well to down and up, its not then in that adjuster system inside left cover and if gears stay without "popping out", its not then also gear "sprocket" problem... i have had such in 750 P and it didnt want to use 2. gear in hard acceleration at all, so gear "dropped" and reason was bad quality gears, but luickily i find some close ones from wrecked Indiana

Not likely, you won`t hear that.Is it possible to have a broken gear selector spring and for it to "rattle" on hitting a pot hole?
More likely worn clutch or gearbox.
